The location, you are right in the middle of Alt Stadt❣️. R The room very! Clean and housekeeping shows initiative. Pretty quiet. The service is outstanding and the breakfast is good. Eggs are made to order. Make sure to dine in the restaurant, the food is amazing!

Although the hotel had an elevator, there were still a lot of stairs. Due to this reason, it was difficult to lug around the kinderwagon each time.

The location was perfect, with quick access to the hauptstraße and the Riverside. Although the breakfast at the hotel was not a huge spread, it was tasty and good. Besides, the staff were very friendly.

Wifi was not good at all and there was no kettle in the room. They expect everyone to be coffee drinkers not tea.

Great location just off the main street ot Heidelberg. You could walk anywhere. THe only problem is that the old town is quite a way from the station. The bathroom looked like just renovated and was an excellent set out.

There were no USB outlets which made it a bit tricky to both charge my phone and keep a medical device running.

We arrived late for check-in, but the staff was very accommodating. It's right in the Old City - very close to the river, shopping, and other tourist attractions. Lots of fun and interesting food choices within walking distance.

Superb hotel just let down by poor wifi.
    • Leisure trip

The WiFi was free but throughout the three days was very poor in our room, a room which was close to the hotel reception. The signal was weak and frequently the WiFi cut out, sometimes then not even being detected by our iPhones and iPad. Perhaps a review of internet provision if necessary and certainly a focus on providing a better extension of WiFi facilities with an up to date mesh system should be considered. It would certainly be appreciated by clients. It's a pity that this aspect was weak as otherwise this is a superb hotel.

The hotel's location is very central in a courtyard off a small street which is right in the heart of the historic old town district. Everywhere in the Altstadt is with 10 minutes walk. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was spotlessly clean, was comfortable and well located. Daily breakfast was offered from 7am to 11am and provided an excellent selection of food and drink including cooked items to order.

Despite the check-in issue, our stay at the hotel was very comfortable and relaxing, would recommend

The room did not have tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge or air conditioning (although a fan was left in our room but to be honest we didn't need to use it). It was a little noisy early in the morning when the rubbish was being collected. As a result of LEZ many of the shops (with a few exceptions of mainly food shops) do not open until between 10:00 am and 11:00 am albeit deliveries and rubbish collection do take place before 11:00, and many close at 17:00 pm! Therefore, with our timing (we were out and about elsewhere) we never saw some shops open at all! I would urge anyone booking this hotel to look at the last check-in time (19:00 hrs local time), unfortunately I didn’t, as this hotel is not typical insofar as it is not staffed full time. The reception and doors to the hotel shut at 19:00 hrs and after this time, there is no staff about. We arrived after 19:00, and had a problem! The entrance door was locked but a sign pointed us to the restaurant to book in. However, being a Monday, the restaurant was completely closed! We tried to call the telephone number listed on our paper work but to no avail. Fortunately for us, just as we were about to give up, a guest came back to the hotel and following a discussion, let us up into the reception where fortunately there was an envelope with our name on it, and keys to our room enclosed. So, a request to the owner, perhaps if the hotel could email out instructions and a one-off code (which could be entered in to the card reader), it would cover all bases and alleviate the stress and horror we underwent.

Hotel & Gasthaus Backmulde is ideally located within the old part of Heidelberg, offering a good base to set out from and explore the city. The hotel offers a continental buffet breakfast, which is freshly laid out each morning. The free WiFi worked in and out of our room (even in the small courtyard). The room we stayed in was very clean with many modern facilities (bathroom - shower, hairdryer, mirror etc. bedroom - open hanging closet, open shelving for more storage with a safe, comfortable beds, sideboard and TV; the TV has many channels (including radio), but only 1 (BBC World News) English speaking). There is a lift for those not wanting to use the stairs. Located in Reception, there is a small vending machine which contains some refreshments at reasonable prices. Hauptstrasse, the main street in the old City is subject to Low Emission Zone and therefore becomes pedestrianised between 11:00 am and 05:00 am (my understanding), so motorised vehicles are not allowed, but there are many car parks outside of the zone, if you need to park. Do be aware of the plethora of bicycles. Many of the streets are flat cobbles with inlaid walking areas but they are used by pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles alike!

Double bed which was a double bed but with two separate mattresses. Towels could have been a bit softer and larger.

Great location in the old town, set in a lovely courtyard. Nice bright room wirh a large bathroom, great shower. Good buffet breakfast and freshly cooked eggs. We arrived late but when I told the hotel we'd been delayed they gave me a PIN to access the hotel and left keys and a note on reception so it was all easy. Staff were very friendly and it was a great place to stay for a few days.
