Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyIt is close to the central station but it may be the only good thing. The street is terrible, full of drunks, junkies and drugs. Definitely not the place to be with kids

GermanyIt's a rededicated buliding for use as a hotel in a street with many crocerystores and vibrant maktet activities. So it's normal to aspect at least 2 cockroaches in the room. (The little german ones ;) ) Also after midnight, the vibrant maktet activities are changing to a latenight, drunk, toxicated, colorfull and agressive crowd... (I'm ways over 100 kilos and male, so I had no worries. And it was at a weekend, so maybe the crowd usually differs.) Additional was irritating, that you have allways have to leave your key at the reception. But this was allways wellstaffed with some nice guys depending the enviroment.
It's really in the center of Hamburg. 5 mins to central station. Affordable and at last minute booking available.

United KingdomIn May this year, I had stayed at the Signature Hotel Astoria, the worst, most expensive hotel I’ve stayed in. I stayed for two nights and it cost me £358, i.e. £179 a night (including breakfast). I wanted somewhere to stay very near to Hamburg railway station – the hotel is about 10 minutes walk away. I didn’t read any of the reviews on the booking site or on other travel sites – if I had, I would have been forewarned and would not have booked. Just two or three streets away from that hotel is this hotel. Again, I wanted to stay near to the railway station. I stayed for one night in October and it cost me £78. There was much less of the street prostitution / wandering, distressed people / street scammers than I found walking to the Astoria hotel. But there was still some. The whole area on this side of Hamburg railway station is down at heel which I don’t mind but not when the hotel is basic and it’s costing me £179 a night. This hotel was older – or old fashioned. There are steep steps at the entrance and to the first floor and the sight of laundry bags in the corridor (at 4pm in the afternoon) did not make a good first impression. But my room was large, the TV worked and the shower / toilet room was fine. The price didn’t include breakfast but it was possible to have breakfast at the hotel: I decided against that as the hotel is not large and didn’t seem full and I thought the breakfast would be pretty basic, out of a fridge and plastic wrapped portions – though I could be wrong. There are lots of Turkish restaurants and a couple of large supermarkets around the hotel and, if you walk to the other side of the railway station, hipster coffee shops. There are many food concessions in the railway station and some have places to sit and eat. I’d be happy to stay here again, given the price. On the other side of Hamburg railway station, everything is better, more modern and cleaner, including t

NetherlandsRoom could have been cleaner. Breakfast buffet was small and lacking in options. Walking back to the hotel at night was uncomfortable.
Room was spacious, not too much noise from the outside. Bathroom was decent, if a bit outdated. Distance from the central station and nearby shops and restaurants was good.

GermanyThe way to the room was a bit like a labyrinth, not at all straight forward and with a bunch of stairs up and down in between the same floor. The elevator did not reach the reception so it was impossible to use it to bring our suitcases to the room. If you are travelling with heavy luggage it can be pretty inconvenient.
The location of the hotel was perfect for people travelling by train or by bus as it right next to both the train station and the bus station. The room also had 4 beds when we booked the room only for 2 people, so it was pretty comfortable to have that extra space.

IcelandThe hotel didn't have an elevator and the staircase was super steep. The location is in a very dodgy area, I was travelling alone for a weekend to meet my family in Hamburg which stayed at a different hotel not far away. I never felt comfortable walking alone to or from the hotel since there were a lot of groups of gangs and homeless people in the street outside at all times of the day. Of the three nights I stayed there, I witnessed at least two fights where a third party had to step in to stop it. It was always fine as long as you didn't really pay attention to them, but I definitely did not feel safe alone outside but once I was in the hotel it was fine.
The room was good, a simple and quiet one as it faced the port in the back. I only slept in the hotel, and was never there during the day and it was more than enough for that. Always clean when I came back at night.

United KingdomNoisy, crazy people outside on the street, all night.
Location was excellent, 400 metres from Central Station. Good price. Courteous and helpful staff. 24/7 concierge. Basic room, but comfortable bed, and good night's sleep considering. Would recommend for a single male, willing to rough it a bit, to save money, and have good logistics in a new city. Location near (almost stone throw's distance) the Central Station, is invaluable for early starts to the day, and for UK travellers on Easy Jet, the early flight timings also mean location is top value. Two places I would definitely recommend for food: One was Ankara Kebap (Adana Wrap): Excellent value for money, family run takeaway/restaurant. Beautiful. About ten minutes (or less) walk from the Hotel. Second, for Doner, go to Tunnel Doner in the Central Station. Excellent quality meat, quick service, cannot be beaten in Hamburg, I expect. (The only Doner of better quality, would be in Berlin). Berlin: Turm Doner (Traditional) and Gemuse Kebap and others... (about 5 minutes walk). Local KFC (near Central Station): I did not have a good experience, so best avoided, I think. (See above for two meat kebab alternatives). Lastly: AVOID Doner shops away from the Central Station as they may look good, but can be a tourist trap. If it is a kebab shop with a massive menu: STAY AWAY! Best Doner shops have only a few (e.g. 3-4 types of meat/vegetarian kebabs) items, and do them well.

RussiaThe windows of my room looked out into a narrow well of 2x2 meters. It was a long way to the roof and the ventilation was poor. Someone else's windows opened into the same well, and conversations and scandals were clearly audible. True, it was quiet at night.
Excellent location, 200 m far from Hauptbahnhof, there are many small fruit shops around. Bathroom was after renovation. All needed towels and accessories were in it.
