Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

There was no air-conditioning and there was a heatwave so it was pretty uncomfortable.
Breakfast was good. Reception people were great! Beds were nice.

Everything was good. Only water kettle in room would have been nice. But it wasn't too big problem.
Breakfast is very simple, but you won't start your morning with empty stomack, what is most important thing. We had a triple room and it was very spacious with three beds and a coach and a small fridge. Some kind of water heater would have made it perfect.

There's only one person that speaks english, so if you're not german it will be difficult to communicate. The elevator was broken and there was no sign to let people know, and I got stuck. One of the older receptionist was a bit rude and told me that even when it was fixed, I shouldn't use it, implying it was my fault. I couldn't turn on the heater.
Room was clean, location is good and well connected, the young guy in the reception was very kind and friendly.

I think we Brits were the only ones who touched the breakfast cerial - choice was a bit limited, but hey - we experienced breakfast German-style: cooked meats, cheese, salad, breads, and strong coffee! Facilities were just fine.
Room: spacious. It was a hot weekend. Very hot and the room was pretty warm overnight with minimal ventilation. But on the night we arrived the helpful staff stayed late on their shift to find, put together and supply an electric fan, which we had on all night every night (not in the day of course). Location was a shortish but interesting and easily accessible bus ride from the city centre, so it felt really good for exploring.

Wifi didn’t work at all. it was super slow. the room is creepy. it’s nice that it came with breakfast but not much variety. the room was cleanish, which I don’t think it’s good enough. the decorations in the room aren’t for me.

Wifi was super slow. Also empty containers of handwash.. no options for a large double bed, with 2 single beds merged together it was difficult with a young child..
The staff were very helpful. Check in was smooth. Breakfast was also quite good given the price. Good connectivity to public transportations.

The pillows were too flat and big, uncomfortable to sleep. The breakfast could offer some pieces of fresh fruit.
The hostel was old but clean as well as the shared toilet. The location is great, close to two metro stops and a bus stop. The wifi worked perfectly fine.

You can hear everything through the paper-thin walls, and our room (401) was next to the entrance which everyone opened very loudly with keys starting at 6 in the morning. NOT for light sleepers. Breakfast was a little thin on the ground and the outside toilet was claustrophobic.

We couldn’t open the window as it wasn’t allowed, think it’s because they are old and delicate which is fair enough but sometimes you need fresh air!
Great location. Big rooms big windows lots of space for me my partner and 2 girls. Nice breakfast which is included. Staff very friendly. Quiet as well.
