Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Affordable price, the rooms were always clean, location was desireable (10 minute walk to Gothic Quarter), had our own shower, felt safe and secure, and the staff were especially great. Special shout out to Miguel who was extremely kind and patient and was so welcoming. He spoke great English, but was willing to help us with our Spanish as well, and made us feel comfortable in a new country!

Beds are too hard for me. I like soft beds, but I guess not everyone will share my opinion.

The water pressure of the shower on the 6th floor is not the greatest Thin walls so prepare some earplugs if you are a light sleeper Bad smell from the drainage from time to time
The hostal is well situated, close to metro stations and just a walk away from Las Ramblas and the Gothic neighborhood Small room, but it has everything you need for a short stay, mainly if you plan on visiting all day and come to the hostal just to sleep The staff is very attentive to your needs, they clean your room every day and change your towels

The building and rooms need 100% renovation. It's a very old building with no soundproof walls between the rooms. You can clearly hear everything between rooms. The elevator is very old and small. The doors are old and very easily broken into. However, all corridors have security cameras which increase safety. Also, the bed was old and inconvenient. The room not super clean but decent.
Excellent location. Right in the center of Barcelona. 10 minutes from La Rambla and next to various metro points. The staff was extremely kind, generous and willing to help us with anything we asked for.

the noise from the dancing venue/ club across the street is as if someone made a party in your room. we stayed over the weekend and it was really loud... on Friday untill 6 am on Saturday untill 3 am... if you need quiet to sleep this is not an option for you
Super friendly and helpfull staff, the room has everything you need. The location is also very good, with public transport and bus to the airport few minutes away.

If you would like to watch the tv, you need to pay extra money.

The walls were not soundproof, you can hear the sound of the elevator doors and the neighbours if you don't bring quiès with you

Lift and stairs very narrow.

Although the location is a plus, it also looks kinda like a dangerous neighborhood. It's very different from what we see around Sagrada Familia. Even though it was weird, I didn't feel unsafe. The pillows were a little too thin for me, but if you fold it it's fine. The elevator is very small, it could barely fit me, my husband and our big bag. The staircase was narrow, which wasn't a problem for us, but could be for someone else.
It was very clean, the staff was AMAZING, everyone was so helpful and nice! The hostal is located near 3 subway stations that can connect you to the whole city. It's also 10 minutes walking from La Rambla, where you can find nice restaurants and shops and entertainment! The pictures of the rooms are very real. The room we were in was a suite, so it had a private bathroom which was SUPER clean. Also, the hostal smelled really good!!
