Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe following things I noticed, but were not personally bothered by them, but in case they are important to others, I list them here: There was a popular night club (Paradiso) next door. The noise from this was audible until late every night, and the doors/windows were not well insulated for noise. This could be a problem if you are a light sleeper. The apartment was on the second floor, which was a lot of stairs. Elderly or frail people might struggle with this.
The location is excellent - right in the gothic quarter of Barcelona. Walking distance to many attractions and restaurants/cafes around the city. If not wanting to walk too far, close to metro and train station. The room was clean and tidy. The shower was a generous size and the shower head made for good showers. The room was cleaned, bed made and towels changed everyday.

United States of AmericaThe room was a little bit small, but adequate.
The location was super convenient, located in the admist of the gothic quarter. It's close to many popular bars and restaurants, which could be easily reached by foot. The price was good for a location like this. The staff was helpful and friendly, and recommended some restaurants for us. The room was clean and tidy.

United KingdomAs mentioned in previous reviews, the noise does travel. It didn't bother us too much and I did take ear plugs.
Location was great, super easy to get around with great transport links. The staff were friendly and very accommodating, especially the women who was working there, she made us feel at home. We were able to borrow an iron and extra towels.

NetherlandsUnfortunately, the soundproofing is pretty bad as I can hear people talking in the hall or other guest alarm, but honestly it does not bother me that much :) I also pretty unfortunate to get a room next to the water system as i can hear the system working all the time, but again it won't bother you that much :)
Location is excellent! very close to metro station, and bus stop! next to the hotel, there is a top 50 bar which is great for you to chill. There are several stores as well if you need to buy some drinks or groceries. City center is walking distance! I bought a three day pass for transportation, and I dont even use it that much since this hostel is close to anywhere! The staff is really helpful and friendly, bed is comfy enough, and it is really clean! Love the thick blanket provided here :)

PortugalNothing to point out, except keep in mind there’s no elevator since it’s an old tradicional building.
Very simple place to stay, nice hosts, perfect to rest after a day of sightseeing. Not the biggest or most luxurious place, but served exactly its purpose: have a sleep and a warm shower!

AustraliaOur first night, the shower had only stone cold water. We couldn't shower because it was so cold, there was no heating to the water in the middle of winter. Our next night, the water was luke-warm and only just bearable so we showered very quickly and uncomfortably. By the third night the water was hot, but we only stayed for 4 nights so only 2/4 were actually hot water. Also, we didn't really get an introduction on the facilities, nobody told us what was available when we arrived so we didn't find out that there was tea and coffee downstairs until we checked out, which really disappointed us because we would have used that every morning if we had known. The cleaner came in and replaced our towels every day, except one day they took out all of our towels including floor mat and hand towels, and didn't give us any new ones! So I had to go downstairs and ask for new towels because we had none. The staff member at the desk who gave me the towels was helpful and friendly though. The bathroom was absolutely tiny, the gap between the toilet and the sink was so small that when you sit on the toilet your head is pretty much in the sink. With two people who use different amenities at the same time to save time, it made trying to squeeze around each other very difficult. Also, one of the days after the cleaners had come, we arrived back at our room and found something like sand covering the whole floor. It was a thin layer and hard to see, but it was everywhere. It definitely wasn't us, we hadn't even been anywhere near a beach and we take our shoes off just inside the door. It made walking around in barefoot very uncomfortable, like walking on gravel, and we were wondering what the cleaner was doing to make such a mess on the floor in a room that was clean when we left it! The cleaner also took my souvenir, I got a bottle from a shop and wanted to keep it as it was glass and very good quality, I was going to bring it home and use it.
The location is excellent, and a nice view of the street down below from a balcony room. The staff are lovely and helpful.

Germany- For those sensitive to noise, the soundproofing in this old building is awful. The presence of a popular bar downstairs can result in noise persisting until midnight. Additionally, the proximity to the street means early morning hustle and traffic noise.
- The hotel's location is quite convenient, just a 5-minute walk to the metro, and the neighbourhood is vibrant and lively. - Both the room and bathroom were notably clean. - The female staff was friendly and accommodating.

United KingdomNo drawers, cupboards or hangers - didn't really bother me, but others might not like it.
Location was amazing! The 'bin smell' people talk about is only on the ground floor by the entrance, by the time you get to the floor of the hostel, there's nothing like it. :) I had the balcony room and it was perfect for people watching before heading out for the evening. The curtains are SO good that I slept through into the afternoon one day, so if you don't intend a blackout, leave them a bit ajar ;)
