Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaBe prepared to climb a couple of flights of stairs, which are old and could be tricky with heavy bags.
Charming property, full of character, very nicely decorated and in a great location. The bed was very comfortable. Jerome went out of his way to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction, and gave helpful information from restaurants to booking a taxi.

Everything. The location is amazing. Auxerre is a hidden gem. The B&B is a very old home but spectacularly maintained and the facilities are all modern. This home is a pride and joy of the owners. The rooms are filled with art work. It is immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. So French! We loved the location for walking to the river. The breakfast had fresh croissants and baguette, home made jams and juice, yogurt. Excellent coffee and tea. Jerome is an awesome host and such a sweet, welcoming host.

United States of AmericaWhen we booked, we were not aware that the room we reserved was on the top floor and had very low ceilings. I wish Booking.com had a bit more information on exactly what we were choosing. Thanks to the hosts, the were able to change our booking and were made very comfortable.
The woman who ran the B&B was very friendly and accommodating. She spoke only french, but was very eager to make sure we were comfortable. The decor was really nice, artwork and thoughtful decorative touches.

United KingdomThe central location and the character town house in Auxerre was a pleasure to stay in. The family host Jerome greeted us as friends of his family and was very interesting to talk to and also very helpful. Cases carried by him to our room, local history etc. Breakfast was relaxed and of a high standard with home made conserves etc. A thoroughly good family home atmosphere and highly recommended.

New ZealandLoved the beautiful (over 400 year!) old house in a very central location with easy and free overnight parking. Jerome our host was outstanding in his welcome. The breakfast with croissants, fresh baguette, homemade jams and apple juice nicely complemented our stay. The room was beautiful, very comfortable and quiet. We appreciated being able to bring our dog. We will be back. Highly recommend!

United KingdomWe stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed longer. We loved the history of the house which Jerome was happy to share with us. The room was amazing and the bed SO comfortable. The house was very well located for visiting the town. We were able to park in a square just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. We could not fault the hospitality, room, location or breakfast. I need to eat "gluten free" and the bread was specially prepared for me for breakfast and was absolutely delicious. We would definitely stay there again. Auxerre is a handy stop on the way through France to Italy and is a beautiful mediaeval town with many preserved buildings from the period.

United States of AmericaThis is our second stay at this property. We originally chose it last year because it was a reasonable distance from CDG after a long flight when we were enroute to Italy. We enjoyed our stay of one night, but realized Auxerre deserved a closer look. This year we stayed two nights, spending a day following the historical walking tour. Jerome, the proprietor, keeps an extremely clean and unique accommodation. The historical building has been restored with loving care for both his family and guests. The breakfast includes croissants, yogurt, baguettes, and homemade jams, apple juice and honey. Jerome is helpful and accommodating, offering suggestions for restaurants, parking, and activities. It should be mentioned that one needs to be able to manage a number of stairs to gain access to their room. Highly recommended!
