Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe hosts were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The property was clean and had a homely feel, and was great value for money. The breakfast was also very good for the price. Would stay again when in the area.

RomaniaThe only minus was that you can hear the snoring of the other neighbors sharing the same floor.
The place has a nice position, and the rooms are clean and cozy. Our son loved the garden and the cats that the owner has.

United KingdomCan’t really think of anything.
A lovely French Gite which was a short walk to Saint Gervais town centre. The property was clean, had all the facilities we needed and the room was comfortable It was also really handy to have access to the kitchen - particularly when due to the Tour de France being on in the town, it was difficult to find somewhere to eat. So we sorted food ourselves. The owners, Brendan and Mirander, were really fantastic. They couldn’t have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful, giving great advice on how to get to places and things to see and do etc. They made a lovely stay even better. We’d definitely stay again if we return to the area and would recommend to others.

SlovakiaThe hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful, they are very dedicated to create a cosy atmosphere. Without exaggerating, we felt like being at our “good old” friends’ house… And yes, the house is “squeeky”, because everything that was worth it, has been preserved and witfully combined with modern facilities. If you can appreciate this, you will not mind some sqeeking flloors… This house has a “soul” and a wonderful family taking care of it and their guests!

United States of AmericaNo one can control the weather! Our stay was a bit hot-even for the mountains. Authentic architecture means no AC. Fortunately, it's really easy to escape up slope to cooler temps during the day, and your hosts are diligent about keeping Mont Joly closed up tight to preserve the cool temps of the night time as long as possible during the day. We opened the generous windows each night (no bugs in the mnts!) and night time temps always ensured that the rooms cooled off right away.
If you like spaces that embed you in locations with locals and friendly travelers, where you can interact at whatever level you desire (accommodating the extroverted AND introverted) while getting a sense of what daily life can be like in the greater Chamonix valley, as well as what local buildings and architecture are, this is a perfect lodging option. You will have the ability to chat with those around you, or roll in quite late at night, as long as you are quiet and thoughtful of those resting. You need a car, but many attractions are within a 20 minute drive-with charming St Gervais just up the mountain. So many things are within two hours of the area-Italy, Switzerland, Lake Geneva, Annecy! Avoid the crowds and the cost in Cham. Lounge in the garden or beside the fire at Monte Joly and pet the cats! I'm so glad we found them, and we would absolutely return again!

IrelandThe breakfast was top notch and plenty of it. Brendan is a great host - he has a great combination of being laid back and efficient at the same time - made me feel right at home from the start. St Gervais is a nice town, La Joly is a 10 minute walk from the centre. For those of you on the GR5/Tour de Mont Blanc it is slightly off route but is a no hassle option if you can't get accommodation in Les Contamines. - there's a bus from Les Contamines to St Gervais. (get your ticket in advance from the tourist office in LC when heading to SG - you can pay the driver in the opposite direction - slightly odd but that's how it works!)

Polandthe house is rather old and squeaky but it is so stylish. we got a large unit, with 2 rooms, a table football and exit to a large terrace. downstairs you have a large dining room and a fully equipped kitchen I was a bit worried that being located close to the street would make it noisy but it wasn’t! and most of all - the owner - he’s so kind! and helpful! he wants to help everyone, give tips on a trip, the neighborhood. very nice guy

United States of AmericaRoom needed a towel bar or hook on the door; there was no place to hang towels. Was not provided a hand towel, just a bath towel. A single soap dispenser to be shared between sink and shower. Little things but helpful.
A rather quirky B&B but one that delivered an excellent experience overall. Rooms are spartan and tight on space, but then the rate is very reasonable. The location is actually quite handy: 20 min. drive to Chamonix and avoiding all of the hubbub and crowding of that place; plus St Gervais is a really nice town for dinner and hanging out. The B&B has a wonderful lounge area downstairs for evenings to sit and plan your next day, and the place is well stocked with many maps for borrowing including hiking maps and a super-useful 3D relief map of the area on the wall. Breakfast is typically good and served punctually, obligingly, and cheerfully. The best part of the entire experience, though, is the host who is exceptionally knowledgeable of the area. Want a short hike of < 2 hours to a nice waterfall? He'll tell you where to go. Want to know which parking area is best in Chamonix? He knows. When does the boulangerie open in the morning, and which of the two in town is the better? Count on him. Which restaurant to have dinner at? Definitely. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
