The only thing I would recommend is putting a trap on the bathroom sink. There was a smell coming up from the sink but we just closed the stopper and we didn't smell it.

The apartment is in a very nice area. La Marais has lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. The apartment is small (but they are all like that and you are only there to sleep) but the bed is comfy. You walk in and immediately are at the bed. There is a separate room with a small kitchen area and the bathroom is there. There is a lot of activity outside during the day but it gets very quiet at night. I am a light sleeper and use a white noise machine so I never heard any noise after 10 pm. We were exhausted from all the walking so we slept really well. There are lots of options for food!

The main bathroom is extremely small and crowded with so many things there is not much space (shower cubicle, large wall heater/towel rack, toilet, bidet, vanity unit. The shower door opens outwards but watch your fingers door hits basin but also only just missed wall heater I. Other side with not enough room for fingers to fit in between, I jammed mine twice. Also the space between shower door (once it hits toilet and can open no more, is only around 40cm and if you need to squeeze through and wall heater in you will burn yourself. Had to make sure heater not in at all or cooled down enough to sideways squeeze through without causing harm due to burn. If you’re larger than a small/medium this bathroom would not work for you at all as no other showering option. Women above size 10 Australian sizing with reasonable upper body size/breasts and larger men advised to query any accom same building letting agency may have with regular access to bathroom/shower. A sliding door would enable a little more but still not recommended unless you are a small men’s size or extra small women’s & it’s still a bit of awriggle to get in as literally 25-30 max gap with zero flexibility to make bigger. Regular sized adult men woukd not be able to use.

I was a little leery of the entry late at night by myself. Very dark until I located light.

Lock box to obtain key was a bit tricky especially at night. the motion sensor lighting did not stay on long enough for us to figure out opening the lockbox, so we were happy that somebody in another apartment was there who helped us. The kitchen table is high and there are swivel stools to use with it. I was uncomfortable on the stools.

The room, kitchenette, bed, windows and coverings, bathroom small but complete. Location was super. The manager, Marc, was excellent and helpful. Temperature was comfortable, and no drafts. Some noise from late night doings in the street below but closing the windows shut out the noise.

We had a lovely lady meet us with the keys and very helpful staff in the cafe to help us translate our poor French. The apartment was on the ground floor and had everything we needed. The host was very helpful and even provided clothes rack to use to dry our washing. Always accomodating to any requests we had. Thank you!

Of our 4 nights, two were affected by all-night screaming & yelling in our narrow lane way. 10 metres from a bar, patrons on the Saturday night did not depart when doors closed, choosing to continue in loud conversation till daylight. On the third night, we had to call the police around 1:30 and again at 2:30am, due to hoolighans climbing the scaffolded building opposite us. We were on the 2nd floor at the front of our building, so others staying at Transparent Marais may not have had a similar experience. Our host was powerless to do anything but, that said, was conspicuous by his absence throughout our entire stay. One portable air conditioner on a very warm summer’s night did not suffice, given we had to keep windows shut due to noise levels. Despite these issues, we still love Paris!

The location, in terms of being close to the sites, was excellent. The apartment was spacious and sufficiently comfortable.
