Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The housekeeping facilities were a bit of a letdown. First and foremost, there was a lack of clear instructions regarding waste disposal. Not knowing where to discard our garbage, we were left with no choice but to keep it on our kitchen balcony. This was not an ideal situation, especially with kids around. Additionally, the cleaning tools provided in the apartment were disappointingly antiquated and unusable. Despite our willingness to maintain cleanliness during our stay, we were unable to do so owing to the poor condition of the cleaning supplies. The key handover process could have been managed more efficiently as well. An in-person handover, though cordial, isn't the most convenient, especially when there are alternatives like key boxes available. This made our departure a bit more complicated than necessary. We found ourselves bound to a schedule instead of having the freedom to leave at our own convenience, which felt like a significant limitation on our holiday. Another minor inconvenience was the state of the front balcony. While a wonderful place to relax and soak in the ocean views, the floor was dustier than we'd have liked, which took away from the overall enjoyment.
Our recent family vacation brought us to the “Vue sur mer La Baule Hydra” apartment, an experience worth sharing. The apartment is perfectly poised to deliver what its name suggests - a captivating view of the ocean that was nothing short of enchanting for my wife, my two kids, and me. The location is a major asset for this property, being within a stone's throw from the heart of local life. A local market was conveniently situated nearby, which proved to be quite useful during our stay, despite the prices leaning towards the higher end. However, the slightly elevated cost of living could be attributed to the current inflation scenario rather than the locale itself. As for the apartment, it stayed true to its online presentation. It mirrored exactly what we had seen in the pictures, and we were delighted to see no unwelcome surprises. The apartment was well-kept, homely, and a comfortable space for a family. This authenticity added a reassuring touch to our vacation. We had a small hiccup while trying to communicate with the owner upon arrival. Despite my unsuccessful attempts to reach him over the phone - possibly due to roaming issues - he did show up right on time to hand over the keys. While a more responsive communication channel would have been appreciated, we were glad to have everything sorted in the end. On the pricing front, the apartment might seem a tad bit expensive. But considering its prime location and the quality of accommodation it offers, the cost might be justified to an extent. Potential visitors should take this into account while planning their budget. In conclusion, the "Vue sur mer La Baule Hydra" offers a family-friendly, well-located, and honest accommodation option for your stay. While it may not be the cheapest, the ocean view it offers along with its convenience and comfort could easily sway you to overlook this minor downside. I would recommend it for a family vacation, just bear in mind to be prepared for the costs.
