Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

It would be good to have the option of breakfast.
Comfortable bed; location easy to find and room was quiet; wifi worked well; shower was hot and had good pressure; hostess was very welcoming and helpful.

Was at the quiet end of the road but town center could be reached quite quickly by bus from stop opposite
Received a friendly welcome and conveniently located. A small convenience store was just two minutes away.

Wifi was enough for messaging but was weak quite often.
Great location, clean room with a small fridge. Host was very kind, was able to leave my luggage there for some time after i checked out. The single room is quite small but was totally fine for me. Would come again.

It was a bit further to walk to the city centre than I thought (not entirely a bad thing, the exercise is good). But there's a regular bus service anyway. Perfect location if you have your own car.
Very comfortable room, I slept like a baby. The hosts are very friendly and helpful.

Though the weather (forecasted to be wet)was actually sunny right through, we (chiefly, my partner more than me) couldn't leave the place for the city's centre and do all the sightseeing planned, as the room was wayyy too cosy. My perceived powers of persuasion fell flat during the stay on those ears - Totally unacceptable, I tell you!🧐
It was a warm, tidy, clean setup just as one would have had it at home- splendid little en-suite facilities too!

I could hear other people talking out loud or the tv on on high volume if there were any. But that's a small thing that has not change my positive and tranquil experience overall.
Cleanliness and comfort to high standards. Hosts are kind, helpful and so welcoming. Services work great, including wifi. 30-40 min on foot from the train station, enjoying the walks with many shops, restaurants, supermarkets etc around; or the bus stop is just in front of the house. Overall, high value for lower price! So i'm thankful.

Very clean and nice room with everything you need (your own shower, toilet, a smart TV, kettle, refrigerator, table). Central location (about 40 minutes walking to city center), very reasonable price and the host is extremely nice and helpful.

All was great, no complains.
The host lady was so kind and attentive, I had a feeling like I am at home. The room was cozy warm and clean. The host did tea and coffee refill each day. She let me in to the room a few hours before the checkin.

Room was slightly smaller than we expected although still a good size. Lack of ventilation to the bathroom. One of us couldn’t get the shower hot enough.
Friendly and helpful hosts. Fridge in the room. Microwave available for use downstairs. Full length mirror. Supply of plate and cutlery without asking. King sized bed. Can open windows for fresh air. Lots of power points available. Great location.

Lovely, homely property. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Excellent bus service into Cambridge. Beds very comfortable. Any and her mother-in-law (sorry, I can’t remember her name),were extremely welcoming and helpful. Nothing too much trouble.

A large and comfortable room with a very large comfortable bed just like ours at home. The host was very friendly and welcoming. A lovely lady with a very smiley cheerful disposition. Gave us good local information regarding where to go and eat etc.
