I was exceptionally irritated to try to check out at 9am and find no-one on reception. A waitress came and said no-one was there, checked my booking and said I was good to go. Next day I received an email to say as my bill was unpaid they would use the credit card I used to make the booking. I had no problem with that but the bill was unpaid because there was no staff on reception at 9am. Are guests expected to wait until someone is available?

Can only speak for room 4. Floor unlevel, floorboards moved, chair in corner had head marks where what looked like a person may of spent a long long time in it. Floor rattled and moved bed by other guests passing room. Very out of date needs complete uplift.

Needs a major revamp it smells dreadful, decor was like my grandparents home 30yrs ago bedding and pillows are very old, bathroom had poor quality towels and the sink,toilet and bath looked like it belonged in a museum along with the bedroom furniture and curtains.

The fixtures and fittings in the room could do with some updating perhaps, but it had a quaint feel.
Location was excellent, right in the heart of Beverley. The Lairgate Hotel is a lovely old fashioned hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Our room was large and comfortable, in an old style but functional. Like the rest of the hotel it could do with a little tlc, needs a kick of paint and general attention. Having said that it was certainly very clean. The gentleman on reception was very friendly and polite and we were able to check into our room a little early which was great. The hotel is situated close to the centre, just one road back from the main street and also within easy walking distance of the railway station. We would stay here again if the price was right.

It would have been good to have an evening meal menu.
It was a perfect location for the choir singing in the Minster. The single room was small but adequate for my needs. The breakfast was good and cooked fresh and was thus hot when served! The staff were very helpful too.

Room 15. There was a leak from the cistern which we reported but wasn't fixed, we had only one hand towel, although 2 large bath sheets, and when we asked for another one the next day we found we hadn't been left 2 and the bathmat had been removed, no idea why! The toilet roll holder was loose on the bathroom wall and the extractor fan was not connected with the inner workings of the switch exposed. The hotel is quite tired and with a bit of a facelift would be much more attractive. However, it is in keeping with the traditional Englishness that is Beverley.
Location was great, staff were very friendly, extremely welcoming and super-helpful. On-site parking very useful. Superb bed, very comfortable. TV in room was good, great reception and easy to use! Shower gel and hand-wash provided, however there was no hand-wash in the dispenser the first night, which meant it hadn't been checked for a while...but this was filled up when we mentioned it to housekeeping staff the following day. There was a live jazz band on Friday night which we enjoyed watching with some of the locals. Drinks from the hotel bar were very reasonably priced. Breakfast was very good value for money. A good choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts and fruit juices. English breakfast cooked to order, lovely fried bread 😋 and extra items available on request. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

Room was very warm and there didn't seem to be a way of controlling the heating
Room was spacious and had plenty of character and charm, the hotel is ideally located a short walk from the town centre. Staff were very friendly

As my wife is disabled, we requested an accessible room or a room on the ground floor. We were allocated a ground floor room but it was a long way from reception, through several sets of doors, up a couple of steps, which made it quite difficult for my wife. The room itself was very dated, The furniture was dated with damaged surfaces. In the bathroom the shower was up a couple of steps and over the bath, with no hand rails which prevented my wife from using it. The bed had very littlr room at either side making it difficult to get in or out.
Location is very good, right in the centre of Beverley, Staff are excellent, very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The TV in the room was very good quality.

Bit expensive for what you get heating turned of at inlet on radiator so can’t turn on pay £90 you expect a bit of warmth
