We found the hotel very hot; the bar in the evening when we had to move to a table as far away from the radiators as possible, our room at 5am when we were so hot we had to turn off the radiators and open the window. The breakfast food was okay, but service a little lacking in that we waited around for someone at the check in desk at 08:40, then sat ourselves down and helped ourselves to cereal. It was only when my husband went to reception to check that breakfast did actually open at 08:30 that someone actually came out to take our order for hot drinks and food.

The larger double room that we booked was actually quite small in size. We had trouble putting our things out especially in the bathroom which was also small. The was soap and shower gel provided but the dispensers were impossible to use.

The hotel is set in small gardens and we had lovely views of the grounds from our room. There were fabulous canal walks near by and plenty of wildlife. The staff were amazing at the hotel and couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The restaurant food and bar was excellent. Parking was easy. The bed was really comfortable.

Our room was noisy as there was an extractor fan outside - maybe above the kitchen? This woke us up about 5am When we checked out we handed the key to the lady on reception who just replied Thank you. Never asked if we had enjoyed our stay or thank you for staying with us or even made eye contact with us.

We were there because of a wedding. Beautiful location. Wedding was Lovely and everyone enjoyed themselves. Food was excellent. The young waiting on staff were very attentive

Th only downside was the absence of a lift, but being an old building that was to be expected as the owners wished to keep the ambiance of the hotel

The staff were superb - my wife dislocated her shoulder during our visit and the staff, especially Jane on reception, were excellent. Even gave us an upgrade to a suite as it had more room for us. I can't remember getting so well looked after in a hotel
