Got charged for another tables meal.. then was asked to pay again on leaving the hotel the next day, already paid and had a refund ..

The price was more expensive than some others around and didn't include breakfast. Was a shame you had to set up a tab just for a couple of drinks, should have been just able to buy them at the bar really.

The pool area being restricted to one small lane for families and priority given to lane swimming which meant that during the Easter holidays it became a bit unmanageable when 3+ familes wanted to be in the water at one time. There was rubbish - toothbrushes, glass, plastic food packaging around the outside and in the carpark of the hotel. We did see 2 rats one on the first night and one the following evening in the carpark.

The extra touches - VIK extra treat for children to choose from the snack area, cookies on reception. Gluten free station and kids station at breakfast. Range and quality of foods at breakfast. Excellent toiletry products in the room - hand lotion, shampoo etc. The welcome from all staff. The Friendliness of individual servers: Clemmie - was wonderful, understanding and knowledgeable. The pool facility being available for family use at all times.

There were a couple of bits of the room that were just tatty, the curtain tiebacks were frayed to pieces and the curtains didn't open and close. The window was definitely not double glazed so traffic noise was quite loud (although I do accept the location of the hotel means you will hear some traffic). The standard lamp in my room didn't work. The bathroom was a bit tatty, the shower tray was not sealed properly and I was worried about water going through to downstairs so i popped an extra towel down when I showered,, the worktop under the sink was split and the there was water damage across the width of the base of the bathroom door and it looked like it had been kicked off its hinges and glued back on again. I felt this was below the standard I would expect for somewhere charging a hundred pounds a night.

Extremely dated rooms (including the corridors), not fully clean: dusty room, stains on the sheets and towels, bathroom not fully clean, dirty mouldy window frame.

Booked a family room. Bed was spacious and comfortable, sofa bed was not. Uncomfortable and sunk in.

Great staff, Leanne on front desk-fantastic, gifts for kids went down wonderfully, pool marvellous if a touch cool but particularly liked the lap section for swimmers, breakfast - good options and family orientated too.

1. The room smelled musty although it looked very clean. We asked housekeeping for some air freshener and were given some quickly. We used it , which helped. The bathroom really steams up as the extractor fan doesn’t appear to get rid of the steam. I had to dry the mirror, bathroom surfaces etc after showering as everything was covered in condensation. I had to move my bathroom bag out and other items to dry them off. It was really heavily wet everywhere. 2. There was a noise in the morning from 5.30am /6am onwards which was like a short boiler or hot water noise happening nervous room 327. It would stop after about a minute then start again a few minutes later. This went on for an hour or so. 3. We were not really impressed by the quality of the evening food in the restaurant. The black pudding croquette was filled with a mushy grey/brown mixture which wasn’t pleasant. I was expecting solid black pudding inside. The gravy on the Barnsley chop was glue like and the broccoli and Stilton soup was thin, heavily seasoned with salt and over seasoned with pepper. 4. The sofa bed did not have a mattress cover on it and although it had a sheet on, it was uncomfortable because you could feel the metal springs.

Friendly and cheerful and knowledgeable Receptionist. Large double beds. Breakfast choice and the booths. The staff were really helpful and smiled.

No instructions for anything in our room such as pool use etc and no reminders for timings of meals /breakfast.

This was a stop over for us travelling back to London from a road trip around Scotland. Was easy to find and book in . Meal was really good but no instructions for half board guests about what was included in our inclusive package. I had to ask this but otherwise really good meal. Was asked if we were going to use the pool which we said yes and was told to use the towels in our room(expecting extra towels) We had one large towel and a few smaller towels in our room and if we had used these we wouldn't have had towels for our showers in the morning. Decided not to use.
