Room itself was clean, staff were attentive, pleasant and helpful. The bed was very comfortable as well. Couldn't beat the price and for what we paid the family had a great time. We were seeing family nearby so the hotel fitted our needs well.

It wasn't our original choice, so a bit too far from the city centre, especially for alternative evening meals. Dinner prices on the high side, for what they were.

Lack of phone in room and paper cups. Lift wasn't working which could be a problem for older people. Hotel looked in need of some refurbishment - ie paintwork on window frames, cracked floor tiles in bathroom, bathroom door didn't shut properly.

Excellent location for arriving by train. Breakfast was very good and good, friendly service. Our room and bathroom were both very spacious and we enjoyed the view of the station. Enjoyed the rail heritage of the hotel.

No lift available. My wife struggled with the stairs. Due to the number of coach parties no lower room was available. Also no table available for Saturday evening meal due to already being fully booked. Maybe because we had a dog with us. But as we drank in the bar for 2 hours. Tables were still empty during our 2 hour visit.

The staff were really helpful. Room was clean and comfortable.

As previous comments state, some of the hotel looked a bit tired and needs some TLC. Where our rooms were together one of the rooms smelt of damp and the window was full of caked-on dirt on the original wooden windows which definitely needed a clean and lick of paint. the receptionist kindly moved us to a better room once we voiced our concerns.

The pillows were on the hard side. The shower cubicle, grouting and grove's in shower door need bleaching. Room was very warm, but we put the fan on so all good.

I had to request a hairdryer from reception which I then had to wait for and feel that a four star hotel would have provided each room with it's own hairdryer.

Breakfast was good, getting to your table and waiting to be sat took a bit longer but I understand that’s more about covid restrictions.

Location was super convenient, staff very polite and welcoming.

The receptionist was very nice and suggested alternative places to stay

The fact I booked it months ago and it is now not in use. I spoke to the receptionist who was great and she said my rooms had been cancelled on the 8th of August unfortunately I never recieved the message was disappointing

Dated decor and needs refurbishment. Asked reception for a TV remote control 3 times and didn't receive one until 10pm. Luke warm tea served at breakfast. Tables in bar and restaurant not cleaned properly. Drinks very expensive.

You closed the site and moved my reservation to somewhere more distant. I had to request travel information to get there. The hotel had extra facilities, but because I was arriving later and leaving earlier I was not able to use these. Would have been good if you could have offered me a nearby hotel (there are several) or at least travel information. I had chosen the hotel on the basis of it being near my meeting venue and next to the station. This was to some extent made up for by the very friendly staff and good humour.

Room was terrible, back dated, in need of urgent update to the rooms, put us in a room with mould in the bathroom then moved us room after complaining. That wasn’t much better just wasn’t any mould in the room.

I booked a double room. On arrival we were given a cosy double. When we complained receptionist was extremely unhelpful and said fully booked and that's what we booked. Despite my confirmation showing standard double. I tried to call down to reception (as advised on welcome letter) on the number provided. There wasnt a telephone in the room which is odd for a hotel of this standard but used mobile and it said no one available to help ... call back. Appalling service!!

Very comfortable mattress, slept well. Really good breakfast and well organised. Staff were really helpful and manager was fantastic. Bonus was the deep bath.
