Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRather expensive, especially when a room is the same cost whether one person was staying in the room or 2.
Beautiful hotel and grounds. A bit on the older side but this fits in well with the aesthetics of the place. Room was massive and so was the bathroom. Breakfast and dinner were really good, but a little on the small portion side for some friends.

United KingdomThe only thing we felt let the hotel down a little was the restaurant menu. There was very little choice for vegetarians. However, we are aware that this may have been because we didn't let them know in advance.
The hotel was beautiful and very clean. All staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed.

United KingdomEverything.
The hotel is beautifully situated with all-round panoramic views of the North York Moors. The drive to the hotel is a long one and well wooded, making it a very pleasant drive. Though caution needs to be taken as it is not a straight road nor very wide. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner, well cooked, well served and a decent variety of dishes. They also looked after my wife who is both lactose and gluten free (what a combination!). The staff were wonderful, couldn't do enough for us. The waitresses never forget that my wife must not have the foodstuffs previously mentioned.

United KingdomWe were disappointed that there were no pathways around the grounds that would invite walking and exploration. There were no gardens nor focal points of interest. The pond seemed uncared for. The food was mixed: the smoked haddock breakfast was excellent, but the Eggs Benedict was below par. The English breakfast and continental offerings were fine. We had one dinner (two course), which was creative and appealing and tasty, but disappointingly small quantity. "Free wi-fi" that is not password protected is of no use to us, so we didn't use it as it wasn't secure. We felt the website indicated a five-star experience but the hotel delivered a four-star experience. Still, good value for money, and if you are happy to drive everywhere (or don't mind spending your entire visit on-site), this could be the retreat for you.
Grinkle Park Hotel easy to find and is situated in grounds that are very green and quiet. The many trees and the lawn are beautiful. There's ample free parking. Our room was very large (complimentary upgrade) with plenty of space to spread out, a large and excellent bathroom, and windows overlooking the countryside. Every member of staff we spoke with was very friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome. The extra requests we made were quickly satisfied. Although we didn't use them, the seating "pods" spread around the grounds looked inviting for sitting with a book and a cup of coffee.

United KingdomThe mattresses on the beds were very uncomfortable. They were very, very soft but also felt like they had had their day. The pillows were also very uncomfortable and really thin. We didn't have comfortable sleep unfortunately.
We visited for a weekend break away. Lovely quaint hotel, all the staff were very polite and courteous. The food was enjoyed immensely. We had a room overlooking the amazing gardens at the rear, very quiet. Fantastic location.

United KingdomAt times there was lack of attention to detail such as no ice in the water jug at dinner, the breakfast buffet was very basic with the fruit salad compromising of chopped apple and a few grapes. The room needed a little TLC with paintwork needing refreshing in places. The window in the bathroom was wedged open with a block of wood. At 5' 8" I struggled with the height of the ceiling when showering
The location was lovely. Very peaceful and scenic. The cooked breakfast was of good quality and was well cooked. the staff were very attentive and friendly. The lounge areas were very comfortable and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable and towels and bedding were nicely laundered. There was plentiful hot water at all times and water pressure was good in the room.

United KingdomUnfortunately breakfast was a let down. No fruit or pastries and they ran out of smoked salmon and white bread. Yoghurts had to be topped up and then weren’t again. Every guest asked for something, only to be told that was it. Items ran out well before the end of service. Guests had to ask for bowls and many people were taking butter and jam off other tables. All staff members seem to cover the bar but nobody seemed to have the required knowledge that you would expect in a 4 staff hotel. Didn’t know brands of gin and nothing other than a slice of lemon to go with it. I would have expected the relevant garnishes. Also no brandy but not convinced that wasn’t just because they didn’t know where it was.
Lovely hotel in a great location. Fantastic garden. We had an Afternoon Tea and starter and main for dinner at night. All were absolutely superb. The staff were all very pleasant and polite.
