Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere are very steep steps up to the upper bedroom. Whilst this wasn't an issue for us, it could be an issue for other guests. There isn't parking directly outside however we managed to park about 100 yards away on the street.
The hosts were very helpful and quick at responding to questions. We loved the decor and location of the cottage.

United Kingdomit was 14 degrees in the cottage upon arrival. As I arrived late with the flight at 1 am it was difficult to sleep so I needed to get out of bed around 2 and figure out the heating. The cottage heated upon quickly after that but it would have been nice to arrive to heated accommodation.
lovely property with fully working fireplace stocked with wood/kindling etc, comfy beds, excellent taste in decor, kitchen appliances, bath towels, soap all great

United KingdomThis property was excellent.
We loved the decor of this property, the furnishings were very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped and the location was excellent for our needs (visiting daughter at uni and close to a park for dog walking). There was always a space to park near the property.

United KingdomStairs up to the bedroom are extremely steep. The bathroom is downstairs. The metal bed upstairs squeaked, we managed to improve it by tightening the screws with an Allen key that we happened to have. Mattress wasn't great. The bedroom under the stairs has a double bed but the space around it is quite tight. There was shouting in the street in the night.
Brilliant location on Don Street and we managed to park easily with the permit. There were great places for breakfast just across the main road in the university. The cottage is as it says, historic and charming. This has been enhanced by really gorgeous interior design. Fun. Great shower. Thank you for the chocolate and wine, we enjoyed that. The kitchen is well lit by an enormous ceiling window, and it was nice to have the little decked outside space. The upstairs bedroom had enough room for two suitcases on the floor and cupboards in the eaves. Good washing machine.

United KingdomCobbled streets, as others have said this makes the property noisy when cars go past. Also was some noisy neighbours at odd times of the night for short periods. Stairs as everyone have said are a challenge when coming down, going up fine. Not sure if there was one but could have done with a veg peeler. Didn't appreciate quite how far it was to walk into the main city centre but that's our fault and buses were every 10 mins or so.
The location was fantastic for us with a dog, Seaton park on the doorstep and the area was lovely. The accommodation was so clean and the decor lovely. Shower was great. Washing machine was really handy and capsules left for you to use. Such a lovely property being dog friendly was fantastic for us.

United KingdomSteep stairs (which we knew about in advance) would be a an issue for those with mobility issues. We used the downstairs bedroom. Maybe a couple more cooking pans?
Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Fresh milk in fridge and treats left. Very quiet. Warm. Kitchen very light, airy and warm. Great bathroom.

United KingdomBe aware that the cottage is on a cobbled street, so there is a fair bit of traffic noise. A small thing, but there is no spare plug socket in the downstairs bedroom. This means that there isn't a bedroom lamp, which is a shame.
This is a beautiful, quirky, cosy cottage. Ideally placed to explore old Aberdeen, which is a beautiful place. As has been said before, the stairs are not for everyone, but we managed fine. Everything has been thought of; including providing a parking permit to park your car on the road. We had a lovely stay.
