The shower didn’t have hot water and I still haven’t seen my 50 pound damages money which I was promised I would get back. I have called and messaged the owner many times and he is rude and disrespectful.

It's a pretty poor example of a hostel. A hold on my credit card to cover potential damage - seriously!!! Very expensive for what it is (for comparison we stayed in motels in France and a hotel in Barcelona on the same trip that were cheaper but provided far, far better service and facilities). Stairs are borderline dangerous - narrow and very steep. Rooms are miniscule with barely enough room to get into bed. Beds were ok, but I think that's only because I was completely knackered after a very long drive. Least said about the bathroom the better - comical. So, it's a hostel, but these people are taking the mickey. I wouldn't stay here again even on my most slumming trips. But... the guy who let us in was friendly and helpful, so thanks for that at lest.

Location - I needed to be near the port The proprietor (I guess) was friendly and welcoming and flexible about check in time. Not impressed that a £50 hold was placed on my credit card "in case of damage", but very pleased that the hold was removed on the same morning we left the place. The fact they place a "damage" hold on your card tells you everything you need to know about this place and the type of "guest" they are expecting to stay.

it was impossible to get in the front door with a suitcase! it took 2 people to try to maneuver the suitcase because the space inside the front door was so small that you had to carry the suitcase up a narrow and steep stairCaSE BEFORE YOU COULD CLOSE THE FRONT DOOR! tHE MANAGER WAS RUDE AND NOT HELPFUL AT ALL.

The property was perfect for our purpose. Sleep and go out to explore the area. The kitchen was really authentic.

Room was very small we couldn’t moved around. That size wasn’t any near to double room which we paid for.Bathroom was tiny I couldn’t fit in there. There was no free parking for the visitors.

The telephone receptionist told me with a heavy accent that if I booked on-line I'd get the room for £45 so I used Booking.com and it came in at £50. The receptionist then told me I should have used the hostel website and refused to refund me. So this is £5 worth of negative feedback.

We arrived just after 10 pm and we are unable to access our room,we rang several times but nobody answered and we waited half an hour. we had to book another property. We contacted booking to have a refund but without success.

No heating, not hot water after 10am. Was woke at 2am by an alarm going off and couldn’t get back to sleep. Was chucked out at 10am cold and still very tired.

The fact that a deposit was taken without informing me beforehand. The room wall was damp and there was a smell of smoke that is never pleasant in a restricted space.

Nothing really, I personally have no problem with a bit off road noise, what was noticeable but not bad.

The location was close to all I was required to get to. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant to me, and the room may have been basic, but it was reflected in the price that was good for me.

There is one small problem. when it rains, at least at the front of the building, rain drops off the roof in heavy drops and hits some flashing just under your window. The affect is like someone hammering on sheet metal all night. I was able to fix it by opening the window which deflected the rain, but that may make someone cold.

Room was infested with flies. I mean everywhere, even in beds, room also had a foul smell. Something has obviously died somewhere. We tried to phone the owner but phone was off, so we left early.
