The breakfast "extra" charge. I paid in advance for b&b and was embarrassed to be tracked through the restaurant to be asked to pay £1.75 for a hash brown. I apologised for my mistake naturally I'd expected it to be included in the breakfast order charge (gf eggs benedict, I requested a hash brown on the side) as I'd never heard a rule like that before. I was the last thing said to me as I left so naturally it stays with me and lessens the overall experience.

Benji was superb! Such a help. Room was delightful. Dinner and breakfast excellent and bar staff fast and friendly.

A two night stay and a last minute booking. The room was on the quiet side at the back and was clean and comfortable. Loved the fact there was a bath with shower over, as sometimes a shower alone just doesn't cut it when you're needing to wind down in the evening. Every staff member I came into contact with was cheerful, helpful and friendly. That really affects how at home you feel. Breakfast was included in my booking, but that may not be standard. Totally worth it, it was delicious and there was a good choice on a menu, not just a bog standard breakfast although you could, of course, have all the usual cereals and full English etc. if you wanted it. Choice of coffees too... not just filter, which is quite rare with an included hotel breakfast.

Music blasting out from breakfast room at 8am, woke us with a shock as room was above. I had to get dressed to come down and ask to turn down as no phone in room. Also would have liked a small fridge.

The location was great. Nice standard of accommodation. We were in one of the courtyard rooms and it was spacious and very nicely done out.

Unfortunately the router's lights (blue&yellow) were flickering all night and made the room quite bright.So didn't sleep very well.

window in the room had a major draft. Could do with electric car charger, was advised of local charger that I couldn't find.

Breakfast was great, had to leave it due to traffic on the M1. Will enjoy on my next visit. Location was perfect for road links.

The rooms, food is now just pub standard and service slow.

We got married here so like to visit on our anniversary. It used to be lovely, but now it’s just a pub with food and rooms. Food nowhere near as good as it used to be, no longer fine dining, but rooms still ok.

Our room didn't have a drinking water supply from the tap, and we were only given one 500ml bottle of drinking water for the room each day, which was not enough for 2 adults. We reserved a suite but ours was very small, I would not really call it a suite. The bathtub especially was very small. Also on the first morning our dressing gowns were taken away when the room was cleaned but were not replaced. My husband asked twice at the front desk to have new ones and we were told they would be brought to the room, but they never came. Overall considering what we paid, I felt that the service and amenities were not quite reflective of the price.

The setting is beautiful and the hotel has great character. The breakfast was delicious too. Staff were very friendly and approachable.

Initial greeting by receptionist . He spoke in a bored tone at a hundred miles an hour, honestly didn’t catch anything he said. But all other staff were good.
