The hotel could do with some renovations. It felt tired and empty, although I could see that they had some works going on in the lobby

Covid era so very basic staff cover. the breakfast facility was passable . Coffee machine broken, but not the end of the world. noisy road sounds from outside but this was cheap as chips. so it’s basic but perfectly usable.

The bed in the room had a missing wheel which meant it was on a slant. We was offered to change rooms however would have been to a room not of the same style. This needs to be rectified for future guests. The food for dinner in the hotel is absolutely awful - this requires serious improvement. The afternoon tea was nice however not much tea actually provided. More staff definitely needed - this may be due to Covid so I won’t complain about this as all staff we encountered were very helpful.

This hotel has a lot of potential. We booked an executive room (219) which was a lovely large room however has not been updated like the other rooms we saw (when cleaners were cleaning) Staff were lovely and we were offered free drinks when ours never arrived. The spa yes small but absolutely lovely - very clean and loved that I actually had it all to myself and husband at one point.

aged needs just minor up keep to be much better, not throughly cleaned, odour in the hall ways to the rooms, bed and covers where very uncomfortable, rooms have emergency light indicators that flash throughout the night this is standard to all hotels.

The toilet in our bathroom did not flush. We reported it at reception on Friday evening as soon as we had arrived. We were told that nothing could be done until the next day, which we accepted as the relevant staff had gone home for the night. However, after leaving at 08-30 the next day and not returning until about 15-00 we found that the toilet was no better. Having to use the toilets at reception throughout our stay was unnacceptable.

Carpet in the room was filthy - did some yoga stretching and it had not been well vacuumed - the room was hot and airless- and noisy near the main road but could not open window for fresh air - Hotel was definitely tired and in need of an update. Had originally booked 3 nights but relieved we only stayed for 1 night.

The staff tried hard but they need a lot more training or leader ship.The bar person didn’t have any idea which was a whiskey then said we have no whiskey and he couldn’t get any so had to have something different.

The dining staff were rude was taken too a table too sit down givin a menu then 3 other people that came in after us after 20 mins were served before us so we walked out when we told the dining staff she just shrugged her shoulders like she didnt care

location also the hotel was formally part of the Orwell Group and it still showed signs or poor taste and underinvestment also to enter the “spa” was by appointment only bar prices are extortionate as well as snack and food also my beginner saw the chef not wash his hands after using the men’s room room cleanliness are the attached pictures considering we couldn’t enter our rooms before check in time because they were being cleaned

The hotel is very dated and in dire need of a refurb. several 1970’s decor still on show. the double mattress in the room was solid lucky there was a single bed in the room to which I choose to sleep on.

The hotel was ideally located for business purposes as I had to visit work locations in both Ipswich and Colchester. It is trying to provide the basics but at the moment coming up short compare to some of its competitors.

The room seemed quite dusty and a bit dated. The room had clearly not accommodated guests for a while as the bath plug hole showed that water was dripping since a while. The duvet for the 4th bed was put away in the wardrobe but the cover was for a double instead for a single so it was dragging on the floor. The room could do with a bit of separation between parent and kids room and the temperature in the room could be improved, it was too warm.

Staff at reception was very welcoming and helpful, parking was easy.

Food was nice, pub style food but hot and nice. good breakfast, nice pastries, my husband enjoyed the cooked breakfast. Our room was dated and very very cold. they did bring us a heater and we used the extra blanket so slept ok. reception staff were lovely. pool and steam room nice.

Very noisy room. Windows have drafts rubber seal missing. Husband got his dinner 15 mins before mine arrived. First day breakfast was lovely great selection. But on following 2 days. Selection was very little.

Our bathroom was filthy. Literally piled up dirt in the corners and round the edges. The sink was blocked so after we cleaned out teeth we were left with a sink full of dirty toothpaste water. The bedroom was dirty but not on the same scale. First impression going up to our room was the same. The whole place needs a good clean!

You should make it clear the pools off limits before you book and jacuzzi as people come to relax also food needs abit more on menu as was abit to fine for average man especially when you also have the muthu Belstead Brook Hotel which is my opinion better
