Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We had a wonderful stay in the Laurel House. The interior was very cosy and Hugh and his wife were very lovely. They also served us a great english breakfast.

Just stayed one night , lovely welcome. Friendly hosts. Good with parking available. Nice quiet location to stay. Good base to explore Cheltenham town centre.

Nothing at all - everything was simply perfect
A beautiful Victorian house full of character. Really well placed - just 10 minutes from Cheltenham Town FC ( and close to the racecourse ). Walkable from railway station and close to town centre. Friendly greeting - Hugh and Jilly are fantastic hosts. Small hotel with a real personal touch. Amazing, fantastic large bedroom with modern en suite. Tastefully decor - a real home from home. WiFi is good - fast and reliable Tea & coffee in room with proper fresh milk supplied. Comfortable bed and very quiet so I got a great nights sleep. Top class breakfast made to order. Made to feel so at home and so welcome. This was the best family run small hotel I have stayed in - I can’t praise them highly enough. I would choose Laurel House every time if I was staying in the area.

Our only issue we could highlight was with the door from the property entrance to our staircase down, as it did not have a lock on it so was open to anyone within the property. We did not bring this up with the owners as we felt comfortable with them and didn’t feel it was an issue with them directly but with other guests we had to take a risk.
The property was very well maintained, inside and outside with ample parking. Only a short 10-15 minute walk to the main shopping area. We had the basement flat which had a large living room, large double bedroom, single bedroom, own kitchen and bathroom with both shower and bath. All linen was provided.

Lovely bed and breakfast, very friendly hosts. Good off road parking, spacious room with double bay window, comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast with very good selection of cereals, fresh fruit and traditional cooked English. Simple walk in to main town.

Wonderful hosts, comfortable bed, wonderful setting (we stayed in the apartment), lovely breakfast in the morning and also coffee tea and biscuits for us in the kitchen when we arrived which was a treat after our long drive from Kent, great location for us and easy communication with the hosts. Absolutely stunning apartment with HUGE double bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom all immacately presented. And the breakfast was outstanding! Fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals, filter coffee, cooked breakfast. Incredible value for money. Looking forward to returning.

No complaints at all. Room had an en-suite shower, would have preferred a bath.
Arrived on a wet cold evening and were shown to a large and airy room which was warm and well furnished with comfortable armchairs. All thoughts that we would need to go out were dropped and we settled down with a cup of tea, biscuits and good wi-fi instead. Got a good night's sleep. Given plenty of choices for breakfast with attentive service.
