Lack of furniture on the balcony, not enough seating in the room, Duvert was a little too small for the bed and not enough pillows.

Location and friendly staff, Jason in the bar went outof his way to help find the right things for us, Lily and Callum in the office were great too

Room 310, Simple things like on arrival the window had cobwebs (old cobwebs) in both top corners, i cleaned them myself. The sink strainer was not sealed and the plug did not fit correctly so every time you wanted a wash or shave you filled the sink and it just drained away itself , had to keep running the tap continually !! Had a shower, applied hair shampoo fine, tried conditioner it was empty had not been checked or re-filled. No maid service during our stay, we had a 3 night stay, tea/coffee was provided for one day never replenished, had no change of towelling during our stay, room never tidied !!! First breakfast visit, the only hot food in the containers/trays were sausages, waited for more food to come, it did not, ended up with a sausage sandwich. Simple basic things !!!

Location, access to seafront, shops, walks etc. Served a very nice Fish and Chip meal, beer choice okay in bar.

It would have been nice to have furniture on the balcony. Even a chair would have been better than nothing at all. Fridge in the room would be good and maybe a couple of comfortable chairs rather than just the one. More pillows needed we had one hardish pillow and one soft one between two of us. Also the duvet was a double and the bed was king size so a bigger duvet would have been more appropriate. No biscuits in the rooms and not enough milk cartons but they did send us more as the staff are great. Maybe time to ditch all the sewing kits and shoe shine lads and focus on the basics like milk, fridge, better drink options and matching mugs but overall not a bad situation.

Excellent location and great sea views from the room we had We upgraded to a balcony which was great Bed was comfortable

Decor a little tired but not a problem.

A couple of minor problems with the room key and safe were fixed as soon as we asked. We received free drinks as compensation - not necessary, but well appreciated. The view from our room was excellent over Southend Pier and the Thames estuary. Bar and restaurant good with great views. Hotel staff friendly and helpful.

This is a hotel clearly suffering from budget problems; windows and carpets are not cleaned to acceptable standard and there were minor maintenance issues which are clearly not being addressed. The room itself was clean, though and while it was strange being given only one towel and two pillows as standard, I imagine I could have supplemented these on request.

The location is very good and there's a car park directly across the road; check in was prompt and friendly

The car park is across the road and for 24 hours it costs £20.00. Although it is sort of a negative point, it is rather handy to park in this secured car park as its so close by. Hotel carpet in some areas could do with an upgrade but all nice and clean.

Hotel is one of the best in Southend and location is spot on for everything. We was upgraded to a Seaview room with balcony on the 3rd floor. Bar and food reasonably priced. We stayed in the bar in the evening and watched the world go by which overlooked the funfair and pier. Room was very spacious and we couldn't hear any road noise. Would highly recommend if you can get a good price.
