Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

It was a shame that some of the menu wasn't available in the restaurant
Really enjoyable stay- room was comfortable and facilities offered really good value for money. Staff are really friendly and helpful which made for a really nice night away.

There was nothing ‘not to like’.
Cleanliness was excellent. Facilities inside the room also exceptional - coffee machine and pods and bags never seen before in a hotel room. Breakfast was amazing - huge variety and the poached eggs were top notch. Came to attend a family celebration in the hotel so didn’t order dinner. The fresh milk and drinks in the fridge were a lovely extra that was complimentary.

I liked everything

Website stated there was a large screen showing sports in the bar. On arrival discovered that not only didn't have Sky/TNT but when asked if they were putting the TV on for the FA Cup semi final, I was told, "No". But that was the only gripe I had in the whole stay.
From the moment we arrived, staff were superb. Very attentive and quick service. Extra special touch was the water and bottle of beer in the rooms fridge... didn't expect that!!!! Full English breakfast was all I could ask for - delicious!!

We found the staff super friendly and overall really enjoyed our stay. We had to leave early the next morning and the the team ensured we left fed and watered... We will certainly be returning again...

Toilet roll holder too close to loo kept knocking roll onto floor. No shower cap bit disappointed as I’m short! So hair gets wet. No lifts so my older parents struggled on stairs as I’d forgotten to think about that and ask for ground floor room for them.

Breakfast food wasn’t good quality , poached egg was overcooked. I had one small cup of coffee no pot or top up offered.
Cosy place, friendly welcome, could eat a good evening meal there; staff weee accommodating by making double bed into twin beds for my sister and me.

There were several marks on the walls in both the room and the bathroom, the shower head did have a build up limescale on it. In addition, the room booked one was of their suite rooms, however the room allocated was a deluxe double.
The rooms were vaery spacious and the complimentary items included in the room were of a better quality than expected. The food served for both breakfast and dinner were of a high standard so I would advise eating onsite.

We were out in accessibility room which wasn't ideal, bathroom become flooded everyone we had a shower but otherwise rooms were well appointed

We booked in for my husband's birthday and had the best stay at the Princess Royal. We were upgraded to an amazing suite. It was beautifully decorated, spacious and extremely clean (thank you Karen and the wonderful housekeeping team for the lovely touches!). The bed was comfy and of high quality, and the bathroom was very spacious and beautifully clean. The staff throughout our stay were unfailingly friendly and provided excellent service. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the evening and the breakfast the next morning provided anything you could want. The atmosphere in the pub was both cosy and relaxed. We will certainly be back again and are already looking forward to it!

The bathrooms grouting was a bit mouldy like much of England. Breakfast was a terrible experience. V slow and poor quality which was a shame because it ended our otherwise pretty great stay on a low.

One downer on the trip was the room stank of cigarettes. Staff, especially Tarek, were very attentive and tried to air out the room, freshen it up. The place was fully booked so there were no alternative rooms. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the smell lingered. A shame, otherwise we’d easily be rating this in the 9s.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff are great, ample parking facilities, good food - both breakfast and dinner were nice - and general vibe in the pub. Easy reach of towns such as Guildford and perfect for country walks.
