The car park was a fair walk away and the bar area wasn't comfortable.

Room was quirky and interesting with a good array of teas and coffee. The homemade biscuits/cookies were delicious. The real ale on the bar was kept well and there was a nice selection. The food was tasty and the breakfasts fine. The bed was comfortable and the shower was mighty fine. It was a pleasant walk into the centre and there was a beer garden to enjoy the sun.

Traffic noise bad , room and bathroom a great size. Beds very comfortable but to be honest cleanliness was sadly lacking. Thick dust everywhere and carpets throughout needed a good clean especially bad round the edges. Lights Over bathroom mirror not working,which was reported but nothing done, lamp on desk had dodgy electrics. Bathroom fan not working and nets in bathroom were filthy and full of holes

The room was lovely but would benefit from some brighter lighting.

Received a warm welcome on arrival and shown to our room, which was as we expected. Good selection for breakfast, which was lovely. We had an evening meal in the hotel, which was very enjoyable. All the staff were very friendly and professional.

Room was a little smaller than expected, very little storage space for clothes. Not a lot of room to move around in the room. Bathroom was a little small. Room was directly above the kitchen which was open at 0530-0600 and was very noisy.

Nice food at Breakfast, didn't eat there otherwise. Room was very clean, great shower and comfy bed. Warm and quiet at night. Great towels on a very good heated towel rail. Good tea and coffee facilities and fresh cookies!!

Only one member of staff who tried hard to accommodate everyone. Efficient but with a lack of charm. My husbands full breakfast was below standard as looked as if cooked earlier and kept warm, dried out and the additional hair on his plate did not help.

Very comfortable bedroom and excellent shower room. Very clean and plenty of refreshments provided. Location very good for getting into town and to Burghley House

We were in room 3 which was quite small but nice bathroom was a large 6 ft shower. No wardrobe but it was a basic double room.

Lovely breakfast, great location 5-10 minutes walk to town centre. Staff friendly and helpful. Didn’t have an evening meal but had a drink in the bar and was that was cosy.

The blind in the window had to be closed as there are direct views across the street which left the room a little dark with only lamps for lighting. Needed a set of instructions for the coffee machine, we don't have one, so after using the coffee bags up we couldn't fathom the machine.

The room was well heated and provided all the comforts after a journey of tea, coffee etc. the bed was really comfy.

Car parking was quite far to walk to with all your luggage (at a sister hotel up the road) When you have a dog you need 2 keys to the room so that one person can take the dog out and the other can stay safe in the room. One key doesn’t allow this

The service and food were good - although it didn’t look like the full Valentines menu was available as had been indicated on the website. The room was nice and very clean Loved the gin but some ice and more tonic water would have been good
