The staff were clearly overworked during dinner on 24 July due to pressure of other parties, but a 40 minute wait between courses is not acceptable.

My only thing is that I like to drink my tea and coffee from china cups rather than the thick cups provided.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Poached egg was snotty and sausage could have been cooked with a bit more colour on it. I am aware That's just personal preference. It tasted nice just a few improvements.

Loved the hotel, the room was beautiful. Bed was really comfy. Dinner was very tasty.

Charming rooms which was spacious but very tired looking it needed attention to table, the bed caster was missing which resulted in the bed base slightly uneven in height. Colour scheme very nice but the paint work needed completely redoing. Menu for evening dinner was very limited if staying more than two nights. The reception area was extremely cramped which gave the impression of awkwardness however the reception staff was very friendly and helpful

It’s not a question of we didn’t like the food, it was more that we thought little tweaks could have been made. The dinners were mainly tasty and well presented, though I had the same starter on both nights and the presentation was different on the second night. I guess it could have been a different chef or maybe they’d had a delivery of fresh produce? My husband’s meat was a bit chewy both nights The portion of smoked salmon at breakfast was very generous It would have been nice to have had a better quality bread for the toast at breakfast as The Dower House prices are not on the cheaper end of the scale. It’s a small thing to criticise but is the reason I didn’t give excellent for everything.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. We were pleased to see a fan in the room because it was a very hot day. Menu choices were varied on the evening menu. Parking was plentiful and near the part where we were staying and there was a lift to the first floor, much appreciated. We came for a quiet break and as it was Sunday/Monday we got one.

The water temperature in our bathroom was tepid which naurally took the edge off our enjoyment of the lovely, spacious bathroom. (Ironically, there was a warning sticker on the basin warning of extremely hot water.) We reported this to Reception on checking out in the morning.

The architecture and two-acre landscaped gardens were very much appreciated. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't eat a meal in the hotel, Didn't eat a meal in the hotel but the coffees we had were excellent.

Poor evening meal. Beef tough and cold. Waited too long for veg. Starter basic, sweet skimpy portion size. I did not like the bunch of scruffs outside at the back.Noisy, untidy, too much smoking, very down market crowd.Not commensurate with Hotel image. Location superb. Room excellent. Spotless. Hoping to return next year.

Breakfast was limited and lacklustre. Lovely en-suite with roll top bath, but no shower. Was not aware of the lack of a shower when booking. A shower tends to be assumed nowadays, with a bath being the 'extra'.

Excellent location with lovely setting. Large room, but still cosy and pleasant. Very welcoming and friendly staff.
