Nothing I didn't like - the hot water failed on first morning but was re-set as soon as management were informed. Hardly the end of the world. There was a footpath running past the windows of the room, but again that is a simple fact of having ground floor accommodation.

Lovely building, and lots of care taken with 'little touches' to make guests feel welcome and valued. Struggling with staff levels I think, and those working there obviously work hard, and are very cheerful and pleasant to guests. Food is quality, and breakfast excellent. Nice wee bar to relax in too.

    Nothing.

The staff couldn't have been more friendly. They made a special effort to provide breakfast earlier than usual as we had to depart early. Porridge, smoked haddock and full Scottish. Lovely. Thank you very much.

In the dining room, on the floor, beside the windows, were 'pools' of insects or flies crawling about. Almost looked like piles of swept crumbs, until you noticed them moving. There seemed to be several of these beside the window where we were sitting.

Lovely location & Hotel. Nice decor and room was clean and modern. Especially the bathroom. Spacious and good facilities.

Nothing really - my only comment, and it's a small point, but the lighting in the rooms isn't as bright as it could be for reading.

All good. This was our fourth stay here and once again we had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were even friendlier this year and the evening meal was excellent.

Ok, but the problem with vegan breakfast should not have happened.

When we made the booking I advised there were 2vegans in the party and would need 2 vegan breakfasts. When we had dinner it was obvious this wasn’t going to happen because they had no suitable milk for vegans to make a coffee after dinner. When I told them about the request for vegan breakfast they said they had no information but would make sure there would be suitable milk for breakfast. The following morning there was no suitable milk for breakfast and they had to send a member of staff out to get some.

    Pleasant but a tight fit.
    • Leisure trip

Our twin room was far too small with no space for luggage or anywhere to sit. We had to close the curtains most of the time as the window was low and there was a path directly outside with people walking past to the garden. The room wasn't serviced and we had to ask for any replacement toiletries etc.

The hotel was in a quiet scenic location with a beautiful view from the restaurant. Staff were pleasant and responsive. The facilities were modern, very well presented and generally clean. There was sufficient car parking. Our room had a spacious ensuite shower room with plenty of hot water. The hotel restaurant served very good quality food at a fair price. Breakfasts were also good with a range of options, well cooked.

Having enjoyed an excellent dinner, was surprised that the front of house gentleman became flustered and unable to satisfy our request for speciality coffees. It also seemed bizarre to overhear him speaking to other diners who had booked a restaurant meal to be asked if they would like to sit in the 'scruffy' bar. The gentleman was wearing dirty boots and dressed as though he can come from a boat.

The female staff including a new recruit were very friendly. The location was wonderful and a hidden gem. Food was first class and welll presented.

Breakfast was good but could have done with beans and tattie scones were a bit overcooked. Haggis and black pudding were great. Only a personal little niggle I suppose.

Evening meal was fantastic. Beer was great. Room and view were great. Staff were brill. All in all a great place to stay.
