I had a few hiccups, key to my room didn't work on check in, and the bathroom sink wasn't connected so flooded the restaurant below, but these issues were soon addressed and fixed. Each room has a very unique decor. My room was fine, my colleague's room was interesting. So depending on where you end up the experience could be quite different.

There was only a tasting menu available for dinner and there was nothing to explain that for Friday nights. I ended up with a pot Noddle in my room from the local shop disappointinly as I had travelled for 6 hours and didn't want to drive again to find food. I was directed to takeaways but they weren't close or what I was after tbh. The room was lovely, an odd gel like substance on one wall but otherwise clean and nicely decorated. Room was above the kitchens so noisy at times as windows were open due to the heat which did disturb my sleep. Breakfast was nice enough, quite slow and what I had was ok but I felt uncomfortable in the space. I am an experienced solo traveller so generally this isn't an issue for me

My room was great, just across the courtyard from the main building. The bed was comfortable & the shower over the bath was much better than i first expected.There was plenty of wardrobe space. Nice selection of teas/coffee & biscuits. The breakfasts in the restaurant in the main building were delish! The location was perfect for my trip to Maesteg & into Bridgend for a gig. Parking is ample. Staff were very warm & friendly. Would absolutely stay again.

Loved the decor of the room. Breakfast was excellent. We will go again, BUT, there were a few issues: the shower hardly worked; the sink needed unblocking; there was no hot water; the TV didn’t work (even after an employee tried working on it); there was no bathtub - but that was probably my fault for not specifying that need. However, as I’ve stated above… we loved the place, and next time, we’ll definitely eat in the restaurant (from where the breakfast came).

There where flashing lights in the bathroom that no one could tell me how to stop. The remote control in the room did not appear to be working

The hotel was ideally located and the room very comfortable with all facilities you would need. The room was located away from the main house which made it extremely quite. There was a god selection of evening meal and this was freshly coked and wholesome. Breakfast was very good, and a fair choice was available. Fresh fruit was available as a starter along with cereal. An enjoyable experience.

Front door locked too early and no key! No late checkout - but understood reasoning for both, but improvements here would have boosted my rating

Fabulous quality breakfast, lovely suite with super bathroom, comfy beds and designer touches and fabulous lighting , great location with a couple of great restaurants nearby, Chic trendy decor, lovely little fun bar and all good value for money.

Very disappointed with our meal in the restaurant last night. The service was not attentive and very very slow. We were told that they were sorry for the delay but they were very busy. There were 5 tables occupied in the restaurant with 2 people in each table which was a total of 10 people. The food was fantastic but the service was awful. Restaurant service has always been great on previous stays.

Lovely hotel. Not the first time I have stayed. Always clean and a nice atmosphere.

plastic chairs in room terribly uncomfortable. Shower didn't work at all. The breakfast was a little underwhelming. drinks dear.

Easy parking and quiet location. Evening meal - the food was absolutely stunning, one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Talented chef / kitchen staff for sure. Such a refreshing change to my weekly hotel stays. Evening meal was a disappointment considering price and publicity. Staff appeared young and inexperienced - main course brought to table before starter had been cleared, main courses too salty.

Recent investment shows in decor and fittings. Not an average hotel.

The decor needs updating, and I imagine having a grade listed building that ongoing updates are not cheap and dare say this will be on future programming of work.

Welcoming arrival from a young person on reception, who also served us the breakfast the following morning. Chatty and smiling, which is always lovely. I have uploaded a photo of the room that breakfast is served in. The gardens were relaxing, and there was some maintenance going on at the time but not overly noisy. We had our dog with us, and the courtyard cottages were great for us.
