Parking at first seemed quite challenging, but after after a quick call the staff were able to provide a couple of parking suggestions.

The property was in an ideal location for our hiking weekend with many great walks starting in the local area. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and adequate for our needs. Breakfast was delicious and I liked that we can could pre-order.

There was mould in our bedroom and quite a lot of it. You could see the wallpaper all peeling off. It was above the bed. They need a refurb but have been recently taken over so I assume that’s something they might be doing long term! Also not good sound proofing as could hear everyone on the landing etc but it’s an old building so sort of expected.

Had a great nights stay here when visiting the area for a wedding. Staff were friendly. Bed was comfy. Can’t comment on breakfast as didn’t get up in time!

I had to ask for toiletries for the room, this issue was promptly sorted out.

I had a pizza for my evening meal, it was delicious. I had full a English breakfast, which I had to order the evening before. I asked for well done bacon, & no black pudding, the breakfast came as I had asked for. I had to wait a while for the breakfast to be cooked, but it was freshly done & well worth the wait. It would have been helpful to have a price on the breakfast menu. All of the staff were lovely and really helpful. It was the first time I had been away by myself since my husband passed away last August. So having kind helpful staff made it easier.

the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon the second morning . The eggs were very overcooked and the salmon was poor quality. Drinks were limited to one cup of tea , coffee or orange juice.

The shower could only be used at less than half strength because of slow drainage, and, even at that I had to turn it off for 5 minutes to let the water drain before continuing to shower.

Great welcome, helpful staff, good location for what I needed. I didn't use the restaurant but the menu looked good and there were a lot of people using it beyond those staying in the hotel (which is a good sign).

The hotel was in a good position and the Hotel Manager was very friendly and accommodating. We took our dog and the staff were all very helpful and polite and there was no stress or inconvenience with having the dog. The beds were very comfortable and had 2 good night sleep. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend

Whilst our room was clean and the bed very comfortable, the hotel as a whole could do with some tlc. The stairs and landing in particular felt cold, pokey and needs to be redecorated. Unfortunately, when we went down for breakfast, after giving our order, the waiter (and front of house) returned to us to say the chef had to leave due to a medical emergency and there a hot breakfast was not possible. We were however reimbursed the cost of the breakfast.

The staff (to be fair we only saw one) was very welcoming and polite. The lounge room to the bar was very cosy, lovely Chesterfield sofas.

Plumbing was a little challenging. Had to run hot water tap in the wash basin in order to get hot water flowing in the bath - OK once the manager showed us the trick. Door is locked at 10 pm so would need to make arrangements if staying out later.

Characterful Inn / Pub in central village location with free parking. We were upgraded to a larger room with four poster bed as business was quiet on a rainy Monday in January. Friendly staff made us feel welcome. Pub was quiet but had a good choice of drinks and food, although no evening meals served on Mondays or Tuesdays. We were directed to the nearby Boat Inn which provided a full menu and was lively.

Beautiful hotel, the owner was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and on a very cold night the room was warm, duvet cosy and it was very peaceful. Sadly the restaurant wasn’t open the night I was there, but the owner directed me to a local pub that was very good. The breakfast was great and the little touches like fresh orange juice and proper butter were noted ! i will definitely return on an evening the restaurant is open.

Lovely Hotel with lots of character. Staff was very polite and the roast dinner has to be one of the best I’ve had. A great base for walking/hiking the cromford canal and black rocks.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming The hotel was impeccably clean The bar/restaurant is very nice but I didn’t eat at the hotel so I can’t comment on the food. it did smell very good I would definitely stay again, and I’d like to dine in the restaurant too.

As others have mentioned- no key to outer door and having to be back for 10.00pm when the bar also shut. We were able to buy some drinks and sit in the bar and turn the lights off when we went to bed!

A front doorkey so we weren't forced to return before our 10pm curfew would have been helpful,especially for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day evening.Ive not been obliged to be in by 10pm since I was 16!
