Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe only thing I would suggest would be some strategically placed clothes hooks next to the door (for jackets) and hooks in the bathroom (for hand towels).
This Red Lion is located in a typically small English town setting that lets you fully relax from whatever day you've had. Plenty of free parking, very quiet rooms, and a lovely garden setting made this an excellent choice for visiting the nearby Duxford aerodrome and Imperial War Air Museum. The included breakfast has several good selections with individual French-press coffee and fresh juice. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, even during what was a very full house for dinner for one of our evenings. The room was on par with premium hotels, but with added touches of dimming lights in the bathroom and room, as well as windows and a skylight that open to provide fresh air and let in the wonderful sounds of the birds each morning.

United KingdomBread at breakfast was just everyday sliced bread. No fresh fruit offered.
At the last minute we were informed that breakfast on Monday morning would be a continental due to staff shortage. Disappointing selection offered. Cereal, orange juice and toast and marmalade. Had to ask for extra toast as only one slice each was brought to the table. No reduction was made to the price.

United KingdomQuite a few aspects were less good than expected. There was nobody around when I arrived (the pub was locked) and it took a while before I realised that one of the two envelopes (on a bench in the porch) was my room key, after which I had to go looking for my room. Not a great start. The guest info pack stated that food was available from 6pm - it wasn't. After going back to the pub three times (after 6) and finding it still locked, I wandered off in search of food elsewhere (found a fish n chips van in the next village - pretty good!). Breakfast was not great. For the price, this was simply not up to the expected standard, and gives the impression of somewhere that used to be good (probably about 5 years ago) but has since gradually declined.
The most likeable aspect of the place was that the room was comfortably large and seemed clean.

United KingdomContinental breakfast as stated is not cereal and toast which was on offer. I consider continental breakfast to be hams, cheeses, croissants, fruit and yogurts etc.
The English breakfast was good when available!!! The location was good

United KingdomUnfortunately the breakfast was dreadful. It would be better to tell the guests what you do have to serve.. Rather than everything you order, comes back with a response of sorry the delivery hasn't arrived. I understand that, but I don't understand poor communication. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and avocado 🥑 on sour dough toast. No smoked salmon... No problem.. But what I got was also not sour dough and the saltiest eggs I have ever tasted.. I could not eat it.. So I left hungry.
I liked my room and being in a separate building from the pub. And good coffee making facility.

United KingdomThe manager Chris is really great - very friendly and super efficient. The pub garden is really nice and large with plenty of space for kids and dogs. The food is pretty good but the best thing is the service. The village is very picturesque with some beautiful walking trails.

United KingdomFood was great, staff were lovely. The setting for the rooms was lovely just needed the inside to reflect the outside. Not much imagination gone into the decor. Ordered a double bed not 2 singles.

United KingdomNothing.
Incredibly location. Hinxton is so beautiful. A real gem. The Red Lion is such a beautiful old pub, so much character. The staff were very friendly, and the food was excellent. The pie of the day was simply outstanding. I can’t wait to visit again.
