Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMy only concern was a lack of coasters for drinks, more from the worry of marking the table. However that’s the only thing I can say!
Excellent location with all facilities nearby - supermarket, pub, eateries and petrol. Easy access for all the surrounding sightseeing. Quiet area, lovely comfortable bed and amazing soft pillows. Ideal base for exploring the dales. Looking forward to returning in August.

United KingdomThe apartment was warm, cozy and really well equipped for a few days in settle. We love to cook and the kitchen had all the utensils and a good oven/stovetop as well as a dishwasher! The apartment was really quiet and in a great location for hiking and exploring the area with plenty of pubs 🙂 there's even a log burner with kindling and logs! We were visited every morning by the sweetest cat that we can only assume lives opposite 😺 John was a really great host and easy to communicate with! He left us a bottle of wine and some cookies which was a lovely surprise on arrival 😀

United KingdomSee above. 🙂
Everything was perfect. I can't fault it. Great spacious living area. Lovely bedroom. Shower was great too. All this really close to everything you need in the town. Bottle of wine and cookies greeted us, generous extra from host John who was attentive throughout our stay. I fell in love with the area and intend to come back for a proper walking break.

United KingdomTo be honest we could not fault the stables cottage.
We booked the Stables cottage number 1 and both my wife and I was very pleased with the cottage and the layout The cottage was very clean and everything you could need for a weekend away was provided including a nice bottle of wine and a very welcomed pack of chocolate cookies. Just what you needed after a day on the 3 peaks hills. The accommodation is just a very short walk to the local pubs and the shops including a great chip shop that does a cracking fish and chips. John the owner was gave clear instructions regarding booking in and how to access the accommodation. There is a lot of local information provided in the kitchen area so you can have a look around the local area. The Stables was just right for us for our weekend on the hills and the car park is just around the corner from the accommodation. After a full weekend on the hills my wife stated that if she was single again the stables cottage would be her ideal place to live. When we left the cottage on Sunday we text John to confirm we had booked out and we also confirmed we would be back again and more then happy to stay at the Stables Cottages again. Thank you John for a great stay at your cottage.

United KingdomNo toilet roll holder! No parking, however do not pay for the car park as we found plenty of parking places around the corner with no restrictions
Apartment was perfectly located in town centre a short drive to the places we wanted to climb. Very clean and functional and the wine and biscuits went down well after a hard day's climbing. Nice pub across the road and a lovely bakery. Plenty of places to walk or hills to run up like we did Certainly recommend this place

United States of AmericaAs others have said, the sofa could do with replacing - it's very noisy and not overly comfortable
The bed and bedding were really snug and comfortable and the whole bedroom was perfect for a good night's sleep. The location was absolutely great - right in the middle of Settle but set back off the main street so no noise. The host was really helpful and friendly, including the cat who we are convinced can open doors!

United KingdomOnly a couple of issues which need rectifying in our humble opinion!.... Desperately needs new towels...although obviously freshly laundered, they were so scratchy and hard (and hand towel very small!) we were very glad we had brought one of our own. The place also needed a really good dusting...the bedstead and and bedroom surfaces were covered in dust, plus so many cobwebs around the place in top corners and between light fittings on ceiling. This aside, the place was nice and very clean.
The location was good! Right in middle of Settle yet pretty quiet down a side alley....really convenient for all your needs! We also really loved the cat!! Highly recommend.

AustraliaThe Stables was a cosy place to stay in the middle of Settle, close to pubs, cafes and shops. The kitchen was well equipped and the capsule coffee maker was an added bonus. The hosts were very helpful and responded to any queries quickly. Settle's a great town and The Stables are a really handy spot to head off to the many walks around the lower Yorkshire Dales.
