Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe breakfast was quite basic. I don't eat cooked breakfast and the cereal offering was very limited. There was cheese and meat but no bread rolls to go with them, only the basic white bread provided for the toast which didn't really go. One more socket in our room would have helped.
The location is perfect- just a short stroll from the town centre. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

United KingdomRooms really need updating. Understand that it’s an old building but money needs to be spent on the upgrading of the rooms.

AustraliaSqueaking floorboards - late night guests walking along wasn’t helpful . Some general maintenance upgrade of rooms, hallways and staircases might help the attractiveness of the hotel. Information about shower versus bath facilities would be helpful ~ we are older guests and prefer showers; climbing over a bath to access the shower is a potential for accidents.

United KingdomBreakfast was not good. Asked for poached eggs on toast and was presented with 2 eggs on a plate. Then had to go and get some toast and of course eggs too cold by time I came to eat them!
Room was spacious and clean however floor boards so creaky our bed moved sometimes when someone walked passed in the passage.

United KingdomThe hotel looks abit tired and the rooms didn’t match the executive double room we would have expected. The food was ok but felt it was low budget quality.

United KingdomThe hotel clearly states that parking is limited and costs £12 per night. It really is limited and if you were to pay the £12 per night fee and then go out for the day, there’s no guarantee that you’d find a space there and would then have to pay for public parking. When I visit again, I’ll head straight to Montpelier car park, just a minute up the road and offers more cost effective, flexible parking.
Beautiful, historic property excellently centrally placed. Rooms were great and very good breakfasts!

United KingdomAs stated above the first room was a bit shabby & not in a chic way but this was quickly resolved.
We have stayed at this hotel before, so we knew it was a good place, although a little dated decoratively by todays standards. We did have an issue with the room allocated due to what appeared to have been a past issue with damp, we spoke to reception & a very helpful young lady called Vicky quickly got us re-allocated to a better room for which we were thankful. Otherwise breakfast etc. Was good & other facilities were fine.

United KingdomWe like the faded elegance - creaking floors with a few frayed carpets. But others may not. It didn't detract from they stay at all.
Lots to really like about The Crown. Great position, large clean reception area, friendly staff, large comfortable bedroom, standard full English buffet.

United KingdomIs in need of some updating. Room very dated and looked out onto a dirty wall (153) couldn’t see any daylight! Step into bathroom is dangerous we both almost fell.
The staff make this hotel, really friendly & work hard. Evening meal was lovely & good value but no atmosphere & the restaurant was cold some people kept coats on. Good breakfast. Comfy bed. Able to get parked.

United KingdomThe buffet breakfast provided a good selection, unfortunately in my opinion the buffet is set in the wrong place. There is a cold breeze coming through the enterance to the dining room, consequently it made the good cold. The food is set for people entering the dining room, but 99.5% of people find a table first then look at the buffet, from another angle. We were in the dining room for 8.30am. Just my opinion. But wouldn’t bother with breakfast next time. We have had 3 previous breakfast last December, January and February, all really good and hot.
All went well except breakfast
