Beautiful location next to the river. Attentive staff and good fitness/sauna facility onsite. Car parking available. Lovely food in the restaurant, generous portions, very reasonably priced. Spacious room with everything we needed. Lots of previous reviews reporting it's dated and shabby - it's not a vanilla chain hotel, so it has character. The colours are heritage colour, so the hallways are cream not a bright white or gawdy - definitely not shabby. A beautiful heritage building.

We chose not to have breakfast as we were told it was a full english and £12.00 a head. Not to our taste or price preference!

It is classed as dog friendly, but for breakfast we had to sit in bar area, then go separately up to the restaurant and bring food back down a flight of stairs. Yes we were told we would get assistance, but none on offer when there. Also meaning eating separately and food cold. Not relaxing or enjoyable. On 2nd morning, went into town instead. Considering the amount if people with dogs, I think more needs to be done to accommodate.

Location. Room/ suite was excellent for what we needed, having the spare living area.

The decor/furnishings are a little tired but very acceptable given the ratings but in no way detracts from the experience in my opinion. Only comment I would make is that the tables in dining area are sticky - caused by the varnish finish - not lack of cleanliness. They could be resanded and revived.

Nothing not to like during our stay. Location for station and shopping and transport perfect. Exceptionally clean. Cleaning staff to be commended. Did not have time or energy to use the pool/gym. I was actually very poorly over the time of our stay, but the views from the window and the comfortable bed were appreciated. Other half very much enjoyed the breakfast quality and array of options. Food available in the bar was tasty, well made and enjoyable. Not over priced. Would like to return when I am fully recovered and would recommend to others given it is a three star rating. It was fine, besides 2 things. First is that they turned on alarm at 1am and it was annoying, because it sounded every 10 sec and we all had to go down at 1am. Another thing - they charged me extra £50 for a second guess, where I booked a double room and I can bring any guest with me there without paying extra.

The only slightly downside was that the rooms weren’t massively sound proof, so you could hear people in the corridors.

Convenient location (next to both the train and bus station), and had very helpful and friendly members of staff who helped with directions around town and the wider Lakes areas. The hotel’s facilities were great, having both a pool, gym, sauna, and steam room. The onsite bar and restaurant was also very good, nice food and lovely staff.

Would have appreciated a better evening meal menu. I felt the dinner menu wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the establishment. Because it was a quiet season with not many guests, dinner was served in the bar area instead of the rather nice dining room upstairs.

Good service & good breakfast. Very friendly staff. Very nice comfortable room with daily house keeping service. Lovely view over the river. Spotlessly clean room & surroundings. Very well located with free covered parking.

Room carpet had been vacuumed but when I dropped something and looked a bit more closely, it appeared a bit dusty. Not enough to complain, as we were only there for one night and barely in the room. Reception was only open after 8am which was a problem for some, not for us though.

Central location was good. The room was nice (carpet didn't bear close inspection though). Food was excellent and the spa looked good (didn't use it though, no time). Easy and free parking. I would go there again.

This was an overnight stay. The staff were happy to hold my bags in a secure location while I strolled around the town and returned later to check-in. The hotel is in a great location on the riverside in Kendal. It is very close to the railway station. I had a large room which was very comfortable and had a view of the river. I had some pub grub in the hotel restaurant (Steak and Ale Pie). I had a train to catch so I didn't stay for breakfast. I was happy with my stay.
