The walls are quite thin and noisy children were not helping my relaxing break.

Breakfast was superb I loved the phone calls to see if I would require dinner. Excellent staff for breakfast.

Not much really. The only thing we did notice was that the door to the room didn't seem to seal as well as it could have. There seemed to be a gap under the door frame.

Such a peaceful and quiet location. Lovely food and drink. Lovely walks nearby. Comfortable and spacious. Loved the large bath. We had to book this last minute as our previous accommodation cancelled our stay. We were very impressed with our 'emergency' accommodation!

There was nothing at all that was negative about my stay

The welcome from staff members on arrival and very accommodating. I was shown to my room and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Once settled I had a really nice meal in the bar, the room lovely, clean and exceptional value for money. I had breakfast the following day and again staff were so friending and nothing was any trouble. I would definately visit again on a future trip. Thankyou:)

Customer service was amazing. Karen and all the other members of staff were always polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and alterations were easily made for my dietary needs. There was always room for last minute dinner plans too, even when busy. Karen gave me great suggestions on where to visit and making conversation was easy. The room was very warm and cosy, due to the radiators and the space was organised well.

My chips was mainly hard ends, I normally love fatter fluffy chips. The fish and steaks was delicious.

Lovely Pub and the rooms were very spacious and clean. Comfortable bedding and room was warm. Staff very helpful but seemed stretched due it being half term. The breakfast was excellent.

The restaurant could have been better, both for dinner and breakfast. Firstly more choice at both, particularly of vegetarian/healthy options - breakfast was essentially a choice of variety packs of breakfast cereals and fruit yoghurts, and a cooked breakfast, with apples and pre-packed croissants, plain yoghurt and some more fruit and nuts would have been great. Service at dinner, although friendly, was a little haphazard - vegetarian options were limited and some sold out, and simple requests were forgotten, as was the cutlery, even though it was a quiet night in the restaurant.

The room was a good size, clean, well furnished and adequately lit, with a desk and a sofa, nice touches. The bed was very comfortable. A good sized, nicely appointed bathroom with an excellent shower and a bath was nice and a shaving mirror and lighting suitable for shaving was provided, relatively rare these days. It was nice to see a choice of real ale in the bar, and the breakfast coffee was good. The WiFi worked without issue and was adequate for web browsing and email (probably wouldn't do decent video conferencing, but given the hotel's rural location that's to be expected). Service was at all times friendly.

This was a lovely find, a few miles out of Barry surrounded by countryside. The room was great, the heating easy to control, the room was very warm when I went in and I thought oh no, this is going to be a pain, but no, good old fashioned thermostat controlled radiators. I turned the room one off and was plenty warm enough. A lovely bathroom with a shower over the bath. A powerful rain shower and a separate smaller head. A nice big bath. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful. Great coffee. Fab evening meal in the bar. Great service. Highly recommended 😁

“Welcoming and friendly staff, good food and breakfast”. I was late arriving but, was put at ease straight away by being informed that I only had 50 minutes until last food orders. It is a little bit out of the way but, the WiFi is fairly good which allows me to complete some work whilst staying.

Only slight matters, bath was smooth finish and no bath mat or grab handle, not great when dodgy on feet as I am. Other slight gripe is lack of communication from staff to owner. I was informed breakfast was from 7.30 on Sunday, so stated I needed early as needed to be back on road by 8am. This wasnt passed on to owner, and apparently breakfast is from 8 on a Sunday. So spent quite a bit of time trying to get into main section of pub (naturally pub doors locked when pub closed) and finally managed to speak to the chef who rang owner, who arrived in moments, so just 2 minor points, otherwise excellent

Breakfast cooked to my liking, quiet, peaceful location. Room sensibly sized, furniture good i.e. no missing trims, scratches etc., which I have had in even 4* hotels. Slightly worried, at first, as room directly over bar and front car park visible, but no noise at all. Spotless, and very nicely done. Even, joy of joys, opening window in bathroom.
