Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike about my experience.
The whole place had a lovely ambience. It is a very old building so lots of character. It seemed to have been fairly recently refurbished. In a very tasteful way. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the food was excellent.

United KingdomThis is not a criticism, just an observation. Owing to the age of the building, most of the rooms are accessed by a series of stairs, and corridors, some of which are narrow and twisting. Before finalising a booking, guests would do well to ensure that any access needs can be accommodated.
This was a really nice find. The room and its en-suite was very clean and was well equipped, and the bed was very comfortable. All staff were helpful and were able to give good recommendations regarding food choices, and things to do in the local area. The food (dinner and breakfast) was cooked to perfection, nicely presented, and served in good portions (not too much, nor too little). Highly recommended.

United KingdomThe only thing for me was the mattress was too hard for me but I suffer with a chronic pain condition and it's very rare I find a mattress to suit me. It won't stop me staying in such a lovely place though.
Absolutely everything. The building itself was gorgeous. The little touches in the bedroom like the radio, the pillow spray, handwritten message, the bottles of water and choices of teas and coffees.. The friendly staff. The choice at breakfast which was yummy. The location right in town on the canal. We will definitely be frequent visitors.

United KingdomNo complaints. If really picky, direction to the car park would have helped, but we just guessed and found it down a tiny road by the canal.
Such a beautiful old building. Lovely comfortable attractive room. And friendly, helpful staff. Lovely lunch and a good pint of beer.

United KingdomThe service at dinner could have been improved. The two waitresses were run off their feet.
Our room was really comfortable and roomy with several nice touches: a radio playing quietly, a table lamp, and a pillow spray. The food was excellent, particularly the breakfast. The hotel managers, James and Kelly, were very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomParking is difficult as not enough spaces for each room and the spaces are very tight. If you are not confident at parking like myself it may cause you some anxiety. Electric radiator in the bathroom was not working
I had booked a single room but the bed was actually a small double so this made my stay even more comfortable! Breakfast was delicious and very nice quality

United KingdomI would have liked a softer pillow, and more than 3 hangers in the wardrobe. Having said that, I have a feeling both issues would have been sorted had we mentioned it at the time.
Great location, and efficient secondary glazing to cope with the fact it's on the high street. Very quirky building, with the usual wonky bits you'd expect from such an old hotel. Rooms well equipped with tea, coffee and biscuits, including a Nespresso machine. Great bathroom with a lovely shower. We ate in the cosy hotel restaurant on one evening, and had a very good fish and chips, with an excellent real ale. The staff were all very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended.

United KingdomThe approach road to carpark was a little tricky to navigate but realise space was at a premium. Also it was a shame such a lovely historic hotel overlooked the 60s/70s buildings from our lovely room but obviously not the hotels fault.
We liked the hotel and found the staff very friendly and helpful The food was really good and the room much better than we imagined.Loved all the tudor character paintings around the hotel. Would definitely return if travelling this way.
