Maybe more choice of snack/ small bite foods. I think I may need to ask for a ground floor room for future stays.

Location excellent as central to the town. Breakfast excellent service and choice of foods. Evening meals great service and choice of foods.

Lovely and efficient staff let down by cost and a poor breakfast.

The first issue I had was the price of car parking....an overnight charge of £8 was, in my opinion, extortionate. I finished off my evening with a glass of red wine which was delicious but did not represent good value at £9. Yes....£9 for a glass of wine. In the morning I opted for the Full Devon Breakfast and I have to say that it was, visually, very disappointing. A great many beans to fill the plate accompanied by half a slice of black pudding, half a rasher of bacon (which was overdone and therefore extremely difficult to cut), half a mushroom and a hard poached egg. I didn't want tomato....perhaps, by way of compensation, I was given extra beans?

My room was relatively small but absolutely fine for one person. The bathroom and shower were great except that the shower cubicle really does need a shelf or somewhere to put the supplied shampoo etc. whilst showering.

The bedroom was only moderate-sized and had little view through its rather high window; only one chair..

Very spacious and comfortable public rooms.. Good breakfast. Dinner of ample size. Some period features - long-case clocks, good paintings and prints on the walls. Adjacent to remains of the old Benedictine abbey, as well as very close to the church, covered daily market and an interesting and free exhibition on (especially mining) history.

The facilities are fine, but the maintenance team do need to check over the rooms carefully. Our shower screen had seen better days and the bathroom door sometimes didn’t close properly.

The property is in an excellent location. Shops and restaurants are within a few minutes walk. The hotel is also a beautiful old building, however this does mean that there is no lift and there are a lot of stairs. Overall though, a lovely hotel.

The radiators were a tad warm, but we were able to turn them down and vent the room. It was an unusually warm spring day! We have no complaints about the hotel though, it was beautiful.

The hotel is a beautiful example of what a traditional hotel should look be like. Our room had a very comfortable four poster bed and good bathroom facilities.

Nothing really as anything was not to our liking was down to the age of the building (listed Garde 1) so could not be altered and you would have knowing this when booking. The staff do all that they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

The staff were great. Breakfast was excellent. It's a listed building so expect the interior to feel like it was from another time and you'll love it. It has many things going for it, the most important of which are the staff who I thought were great.

During the party, due to everyone dancing the temperature was too hot in the function room. We could have done with the air con being better.

I had a birthday party in the function room. The hotel staff were very accomadating and the party was fantastic. The hot buffet provided by the hotel was delicious and the bar staff worked particularly hard serving drinks. Many of our party stayed at the hotel and we sat together for breakfast which was lovely. Delicious good quality food.
