Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Ideal location just a tad outside the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Clean amenities attentive staff. Especially given the plethora of kids and adults dotted around at the time of our arrival but enough staff to deal with everyone. Also spoke to a young lad who was very receptive and polite. Nice guy

Very thick duvet and was too hot to sleep. Minor issue, which can be easily fixed by bringing my own. Authomatic light in the toilet is too bright for the eyes if going to the toilet at night. I would prefer the option of not turning it on at all. Again, this is just my personal preference.
Clean room, food and drinks available on the property, fantastic location, free parking, very quiet room and excelent price. Wouldn't even want to try any other place to stay next time when coming to York.

The place is located just outside the city center. A nice walk by the river to the center is pleasant. The room was nice, warm and staff were very very friendly.

i was told they served food until 8pm (which was what was advertised) but when i tried to order at 7.45pm (after waiting at the bar about 5 minutes to order) they said no sorry your to late, so my daughter ended up just having a bag of crisps to eat,
room always clean and modern, a nice walk along the river in to york centre as long as its not been raining a lot because then it will be flooded, so you have to walk along the main road into the centre

Wifi is not up to par. Consistently dropped if it connected at all.
Great staff and facilities. A lot of room to spread out in shared areas. Comfortable dorms too. Location wise it’s only about a 20 minute walk to town.

The location was good you could go walking up to the Town centre like in 8-10 minutes. The building and the staff was quite nice and helpful. Everything it was so clean and the price is 10/10.

I had continental breakfast, there was a lot of people and they run out of croissants, I told them but they didn't refill.
good size room with 4 bunk beds. Clean and comfortable. Facilities were clean too.

Light in our toilet went off after about 10 seconds so had to keep moving about. Don’t know if it was a fault with ours or if they are all like that!

There's not much to dislike, beautiful location and great facilities.
The receptionist was out of this world, she has an amazing future, whether it's in hospitality or something else. Every guest was treated with respect and decency, and if she could help you with a problem, she would do her utmost to help you.

Bathroom facilities were very small/ hard to close door/ move around. Other than that, it was a good place to stay.
The lounge was big, and there were lots of charging plugs. The kitchen was perfect and well stocked with cooking supplies, etc. Bed was comfortable. Lockers are good size. The location was good. I went to the city center a couple of times. Lots to see and do within walking distance. Seemed to be family friendly.

Kitchen very busy. Only one door card given to a family of 4 which was a pain as you need it for connecting doors, so unless you stayed all together it was a real pain. Also there was an awful drain smell in the corridor to our room...it hit you when you..we stated in T08.
Good location, nice lounging area with pool table and bar.
