This place is astonishingly good value for money. Spotlessly clean, the most comfortable bed ever and a great host in Makis. No surprise that people come back time and time again

Everything was great - although restaurants in local neighbourhood were few. Need to walk 20min to Sami for more variety!

The Proprietor (Makis) really makes everyone feel welcome - always greets you by name - all the guests are repeat customers - it’s like one big happy family. Guest use of the pool at resort next door was an added bonus.

Nothing to dislike.

Makis, the owner was super friendly and nothing was a problem. Breakfast was good. We had 2 single beds and they were quite small, for my 6ft 2in husband. Could use the pool next door, which was great. Nice walk along the waterfront to Sami town. A few good tavernas close by.

The bar remains open until late so if you’re in one of the rooms above you can hear music but it didn’t stop us from sleeping. The breakfast was nice but the same every day and basic. Room is basic but great value for cheap accommodation.

This hotel is absolutely amazing for the price of bed and breakfast. So cheap compared to nearby hotels. Amazing location, walking distance to the beach and Sami harbour. Makis, the hotel owner is the most dedicated and enthusiastic guy I have ever met. He will make sure you have an amazing holiday! You also get to use the Ionian Hotel’s swimming pool and pool bar included in your stay. I would definitely return!

Everything was just great!

The hospitality was incredible! “My friend”(Makas way to refer to us) Makas and Eleanor were two of the finest hosts I have ever experienced. I would travel back just for that reason. I strongly recommend this accommodation!

Machis the owner was extremely friendly and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and always with a beaming smile. Made you feel life was good. He also has a fantastic memory for names. Will certainly stay at Hotel Athina if we return.

Makis and Elena are fantastic hosts. They went more than the extra mile to make our stay so special. The hotel is located around 100m from beach front. The sea view rooms are 100% worth it too. Located in a quiet part of Karavamilos an easy flat 1 mile walk to busier Sami where all the restaurants and shops are. The hotel doesn't have a pool. But you can use the stunning pool located in the hotel next door. Less than 100m walk to the other hotel, the pool has a lovely bar and restaurant with great staff. None of this comes close to the service that Makis and Elena provide. Words cannot describe their kind and generous hospitality. We read a review before going "You arrive as guests and leave as friends" and that can't be any closer to the truth.

The property is in the most beautiful location and the views are stunning. The hotel is spotlessly clean. There’s a great vibe in the hotel due to many happy repeat customer guests and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. You can also use the pool at the sister hotel next door. It’s paradise and I can’t wait to return.

The beds were absolutely horrible. Old facilities and hotel. Two small single beds with very old pillows, unfortunately smelling like sweat. A group of people partying at the bar downstairs until very late, hence noises the whole night.

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night. It was a bit further from the city, but if you go through the beach it is max 10min! The hotel is very nice, but the best part about it is the owner! We were warmly welcomed, our room was upgraded to a better one, we got ouzo for the evening and a free ride to a city! Would recommend the stay if you want to feel a bit like home

We got a bigger room than what we booked for and the location was nice/clean and very close to the town and the Melisani cave. But the best part of our stay there was certainly the warm welcome and funny chats we had with Makis the owner, who has a very nice personality and plenty of humor. We totally recommend this location and will stay there in the future if we return to Kefalonia again.
