I didn't like the bar staff, seems they are quiet rude bar one nice man with dark hair. Lady think manageress very stuck up and no need to be. Like she was closing the bar. I was sat there walked by me went over to 2 men to see what they wanted to drink then closed the bar. An other night she was the same she's no mannerisms at all she's in the wrong job.

Loved the pool and jacuzzi. Night porter mark was great looked after people that night very well. Pity he couldn't train some off them to be more people person.

2 lads on duty Monday am . No good morning ... Room number . If you don't eat full fry Choices very limited . No ham., no cheese . Had to order porridge twice. Ask for a slice of cheese . Still waiting

- No roasted tomatoes or beans on the breakfast buffet at all so a dry breakfast . - Second morning we asked and the team served us some beans but to have with breakfast you'd need to order them first then select from the buffet. - Scrambled eggs rock hard sadly - eggs would be better ordered fresh .

- Location - history - bar and lounge lovely and comfy and convivial - love the decor in the lounge. Gorgeous views of the Abbey. - Great for parking. - Beds nice and comfy - room spacious and clean. - Large bathroom. - Lovely efficient teams of staff - all helpful and friendly - the bar team great. Bathrooms and bedrooms could do with a makeover and modernisation but perfectly comfortable , clean and in good working order.

Not a lot laid out for breakfast at first we did not know you could ask for other things such as pouched eggs, tomatoes mushrooms. wold have liked a bit more choice for bar meals

The Abbey Hotel is a well established family run hotel, the personal attention to detail is evident, the staff are very helpful and welcoming. Grounds are lovely, it's' within walking distance of the town centre. The rooms are big and spacious and ours had a really lovely view over the front gardens and an added bonus is that we could see the church spire, Its a lively spot too , A really lovely gem of a hotel

Would have preferred brighter lighting in room and maybe more channels the TV (Sky Sports etc). Otherwise great room and hotel. Water in the pool, jacuzzi and pool showers could have been a bit hotter.

Breakfast- All the normal items you would expect (fruit, pastries, cereals, sausages, bacon etc) from the self service buffet plus hot drinks from waiting staff and should you require items that aren't displayed (Mushrooms, baked beans, poached eggs etc) the staff bring them to you quickly. Room was comfortably warm (Feb 24 stay), bathroom was well stocked, bed, mattress and pillows super comfy and all other things (TV, desks, tables comfy chairs) as expected

This is the second time I’ve stayed here and it will be my last. It’s a hotel that doesn’t deserve the 4 stars. The breakfast is appalling, and it was no better the last time I stayed. The hot buffet had 5 items - greasy bacon, cheap sausage, dried out black pudding, over-done eggs and soggy potato hash browns. No vegetarian options, not even the bare minimum tomato, mushrooms and baked beans. I can get better at a roadside cafe.

Soundproofing isn't the best but not a lot that can be done about that. We could hear the people in the rooms on either side of us. The items in the cooked breakfast were not hot.
