Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

No complaints really. It was cozy. One of the bedrooms has a very low doorway height.
Great location. Air conditioning worked great. Place was really clean. We appreciated the water available on site. Host was a good communicator and was able to help arrange a tour of Mt Etna and recommend local places to eat and drink.

Check in was fantastic. Helpful communication by what's app and allowed us to check in early as we had a cancelled flight due to industrial action. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever stayed in in Catania and I have stayed in the city 8 times in various apartments. The linen was fresh the apartment was modern, light, quiet and comfortable. The showers were amazing! Thank you for making our last night in Catania so fantastic and comfortable

It would have been ideal to have a minifridge. It was too hot outside and something cold would have been fantastic!
Great location. Most of the attractions were within walking distance. Easy to find.

We would have liked more hooks in the bathroom or bedroom for drying our wet bath towels. I hung them on our suitcases. They change towels every 3 days. The apt is small, no mini fridge, and the only place to sit is on the bed, it would be nice to have a small chair that could fit under the shelving and pulled out to use when sitting on the bed becomes tiresome. (My husband had a bad stomach while we were there so we spent a lot of time in the room, 4 days)
The shower in unit 1 was awesome, my husband and I both rated it best shower ever in all the places we've stayed. Otto is very attentive in anything you may need, he found us a wash fold laundry nearby with fast service. The Etna tour he had pick us up at our door. Location is wonderful just a few blocks away from all of the restaurants. There is a market on the corner and a grocery store just a few minutes walk. If you get in early he has baggage storage at the bed and breakfast just up the block.

It was a bit loud but it didn’t bother us much I mean it’s in the center of the town so that wasn’t a problem.
The beds were really comfortable and the spot was really close to the center you could go on foot. Also we had privacy from each other with the smart locks!

Everything was perfect
Excellent apartment. Great value, beautiful Location, Very Clean, comfortable, and Central. The apartment is located in great position to visit Catania by feet. We took Alibus from Catania airport to reach the apartment. Bus stop is really close the apartment. We arrived very late in the night and it was a really good idea ask for the self check-in. There are big and comfortable showers, comfortable bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen well equipped. Staff was really helpful, you can manage everything by mobile, they speak English. In few steps we reached via Etnea, Bellini Garden, Benedettini monastery, Greek amphitheater, the port, fish market. It is located close very good restaurants. Property help us to book the excursion in the volcano (great experience), and a car. Hosts Alessia and Ottone were very kind and helpful, thank you.

We could hear everything the neighbours were doing all night long. The WiFi was poor, the parking is a pain as we had to look for a spot for 20 minutes. It was very hot in the room but with the AC on it was blowing straight into your face. And the size of the room is very small. We found crumbs on the table and a hair in our bed which was very unpleasent.
The location of the place is very convenient.
