Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We had an incredible stay and we were very impressed. The location is ideal. Barbara is a super host and is so accommodating and thoughtful in every little detail for the stay. It was very spacious, comfortable, homey, and had more than we needed. Highly recommend!

The host went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we may ever need! There was a selection of foods for us to make breakfast, along with coffee tea and milk. Comfortable bed and nice towels. Everything was perfect!

Towels and dish cloths smelled bad as if not dried properly. House smelled a dampness. To be fair the apartment seems to be carved out of a rock cliff.
Location was perfect. Host was wonderful. Host even provided us with walking poles which were needed for the challenging beautiful hike we took to Monterosa. Greta host!

The property had no issues for me.
Donna was an amazing host. She was very helpful including due to a flash Trenitalia strike got us needed information to navigate the train system to end up arriving only two hours late. The property is located a few feet from the Sea and restaurants with amazing freshly caught seafood. Provided breakfast food for us to cook was delicious plus a quality bottle of Prosecco. The apartment was clean and very well located.

There was nothing that we didn't like. The only thing that we would have liked was a washing machine. The apartment is reached by a very steep stairwell. This didn't bother us, but something to be mindful of if you have mobility issues.
Location was amazing! Literally steps from the main square in Vernazza. Even though it was so close to the main square, it was very quiet with double glazed windows. Our host Barbara was lovely and met us for a tour of the apartment. The pantry and fridge were fully stocked with breakfast and other staples. I am planning on staying here again one day.

Not her fault, but the coastal trail was closed in both directions due to a recent storm. We found plenty of other hiking in the area and some called for taking trains, but it would have been nice to do the trail as planned. Guests should just be mentally prepared for trail closures. There is absolutely no view. Yes, you can see a sliver of the sky if you stick your head far enough out of the water.
The proximity to the piazza. The hostess was very helpful. I felt like I drove her crazy with texted questions, but she always answered quickly and seemed happy to do so. I was concerned about her breakfast but she really stocked the fridge and kitchen nicely. We loved it breakfasts in the room and the coffee with cream and sugar available! The windows were very sound proof. I was amazed. Yes a couple of drunks might hoot and holler on a Saturday night, but the widows do pretty well at even making that quiter.

We loved the property! Just know there are steep stairs to get up to the apartment.
Location was perfect! The amenities were abundant. Barbara went above and beyond by stocking the kitchen with snacks and food for breakfast. It was a beautiful setting and quiet.

The stairs are steep, but they are even which makes it easier going up/down.
Very close to Harbor. Close to train station. Well stocked refrigerator. Had boxes of Kleenex! Only one flight of stairs to get to apartment

it is best suited for a couple with a separate bedroom, with 3 (using a sofa bed) it was a little small in the living area. But not really a big deal.
Location was excellent, very responsive host. She helped us find the place and was very generous in providing food for breakfast, a bottle of wine, coffee, etc.

This little apartment is right off the bottom of the street in Vernazza. There are a few steps to reach the door and then all the noise vanishes. It’s quiet and comfortable. Barbara has provided everything you could need for the kitchen including generous breakfast supplies. Extra towels including beach towels are available. The bed is comfortable. We could not have asked for a more thoughtful hostess. We’d stay again if visiting Vernazza!

Breakfast was awesome, as was bottle of welcome wine. Location was very good. Barbara was very welcoming. She allowed us to leave our luggage until later that afternoon. The kitchen and fridge were VERY WELL stocked. It was super clean and comfortable
