Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of Americacity tax is high. cannot control room temperature because is controlled by the central system. Temp is set at 21-22 Celcius. 22 being highest. I ended up feeling too cold to fall asleep one night. Had to talk to the front desk next morning to reset the temp range to 22-25.

FinlandFirst room we got was said to be ready, but was still being cleaned. The bathroom was quite unclean when we finally got a different room (hair on the floor, a dirty glass left behind, soapy bathtub) but was cleaned promptly when we notified the staff. One of the door frame boards came off when we entered the room but it was also fixed the next day. Shower head was very flimsy and during our stay the water went was off for about an hour.
Great location and staff was very helpful.

Germanythe breakfast was okay, but could be better. I am sad there was no access to a pool or hot tub, and the location was fairly far from major views. the bathroom toilet paper is hard and is not too soft to use for anything.
it was a very clean property. the staff were very helpful and friendly. the bed was extremely comfortable and I love that it has AC in the unit.

IrelandThe walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything in the rooms next to you. A room beside us were up at 4am to check out and woke us both up. Also, no jacuzzi as advertised. Breakfast is an additional €10 each but if you go up the road turning left out of the hotel there is a lovely cafe at the top of the hill that’s very cheap and has tasty food. City tax is not included in your booking and you have to pay this at check out (€6 each per night)
Beds we very comfy and room cleaning staff always left clean towels, soap and water and had the place sparkling. Always had staff to ask questions at reception and there’s a lovely little cocktail bar there too. In a very central location, ideal for exploring Rome.

NetherlandsThe breakfast is not so great. The shower is a bit small, as is the amount of shower gel provided. There is no ironing board in the room and the one that you can borrow is a bit leaky. But those are just small things.
Comfortable stay in clean, nice rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is decent, about 10 minutes walk from Colosseo and then the rest of historic Rome is at your feet. The WiFi works well, is quick and doesn't require repeated sign-on as in some other hotels. The problem that the airconditioning didn't work (as a consequence of new Russian-gas-related ruling) did not occur with us. In spite of high temperatures (30+ deg in May) the room was always cool and nice.

EthiopiaToiletries were not replenished daily They could have done better in cleaning the room. There was no shower curtain so water splashed all over the floor. Also no non-slip bath mat in the bath tub .Would have preferred it was a shower stall instead; Laminated cupboards made the room look cheap
Complimentary evening canapés and helpful staff Fairly convenient but not many convenient shops close by

United KingdomI am an elderly retired person on a budget in Rome. I could have done with some advice on tipping (ie, individual staff, central box, etc). So I left without leaving a tip and felt bad about this.
The staff were particularly helpful, especially guiding me with a map to the Tourist Spots. The location was excellent and I was able to leave my luggage to collect after checking out during the same evening. This was particularly helpful.

ColombiaWe highly recommend the Saint John, it has an excellent ubication, near to the meter, bus stop and you can go to the colosseum by walking (15 mins). The cost/benefit is very good. The breakfast has a lot of different options but the best thing is the staff, Margarita, Carlo, Luigi, the restaurant staff. All of them were very kind and special with us.
