Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaWe would have liked the bar to be open in the evening because, although the location was excellent, it was quite a long walk to go out for drinks or food. Also, it was difficult to get change at the hotel for tipping. Otherwise it’s a wonderful place.
The view from our room was spectacular. The room itself was very beautiful with a lovely little balcony. The dining area and pool area are beautiful, as is the entire hotel, beautifully appointed with lovely art. It was quiet and perfect for us as an older couple.

United KingdomNo tea and coffee in room. Everything else was perfect. Just as we had hoped. No lift and lots of stairs but unavoidable in an old building on a mountain.
Beautiful building and very helpful staff. Amazing town and stunning views. It was my birthday and although we didn't tell the hotel there was some prosecco and a note left in our room. Bags were carried for us and helpful recommendation for restaurant.

AustraliaTrying to reach this property was a nightmare for us as we had to navigate very narrow roads and had to reverse quite a lot on trying to gain access to it, which caused much frustration and delays.
This place was absolutely wonderful and I especially liked the fact that it had a swimming pool (which I used). The views were also sweeping over Matarea from the property.

United States of AmericaThe pool was very cold. There would be four or five couples soaking up the sun on lounge chairs around the pool, but the water was so cold that no one wanted to get in. The weather was very hot, high 80's, and still we didn't want to get into the frigid water. We had thought there was a hot tub connected to the pool, and there is; however, it is a cold jacuzzi tub, not a hot tub. Regardless, we loved our stay here and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Maratea.
My husband and I got a free room upgrade to the room with the spa tub built into the rock, and it was an amazing room! The staff were fabulous, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty with a lot of different options to choose from.

Everything it was exceptional. The facilities were superb could not ask for anything more. The location, the facilities, the pool the breakfast, the art work and decor were beautiful. We got lost and Carlo stayed on the phone to us leading us through all the streets to the car park at property. Could not ask for more or recommend this property highly enough. It is actually nicer than the photos didn’t want to leave.

United KingdomDue to being an old building sound insulation isn't great when people are moving around in the morning if you are trying to lie in.
Beautiful old building, fantastic views from the pool. Excellent location for old town Maratea where you can easily spend a couple of days relaxing in a still relatively un touristy part of Italy. Staff very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomWe have no criticism at all but we were disappointed that the restaurant was not open for dinner. It will hopefully be opening again soon.
This was a really fabulous and lovely stay. The hotel, all the staff and the location are all very very good. The hotel is very comfortable and beautifully clean. The staff friendly and attentive. And the location, looking over the town is perfect. We very much enjoyed relaxing in the restaurant and pool area. It was an all round perfect stay.

IrelandThere was nothing I didn’t like about this property. The owners have restored it to perfection, it has old style charm with everything you need to hand. Stunning, stunning, stunning!!
This is truly the most beautiful hotel we have stayed in ever. It has so much character, the furniture, the art work, all add to the charm of this unique building which used to be a monastery. the views over Maratea are spectacular. The owners and staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Our rooms were very comfortable, very clean, and we had a lovely balcony. The restaurant is perfect. The area beside pool and hot tub so pretty perfect for relaxing. 10/10 all the way for this place.
