Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyIt seems, you have to leave the dorm between 11 am and 1:30 pm because of the cleaning. I only stayed one night, so I wasn't affected, but it might be annoying at a longer stay.
Nice hostel, friendly staff and great location in the city. I could leave my luggage early at the day of arrival and when I didn't have any cash they spared from me the deposit for the lock. The hostel has everything you need and even curtains at the dorm beds. Breakfast is not huge, but enough for a free meal.

United KingdomThe bathrooms were generally okay, but think some of the guests at the time were a bit messy. Unfortunately, the room I stayed in, I could hear a lot of noise coming from the common room, doors open/close very loud & then struggling to open/close the door which made more noise (people returning late from partying or being out etc) and someone vomitted during the night, but this is out of the control of the hostel i guess, luckily couldn't smell much of it during the night but when returned from breakfast almost vomitted myself from the smell (luckily opening windows did the trick!). The hostel is not far off from a street with some pimps & prostitution, but this street can be easily avoided, day time some remarks were made by men on that street but otherwise ok, wouldn't dare to cross night time. In general, in the evening (7-8pm was dark & raining) be mindful of the streets in old town, didn't feel comfortable at times even with other tourists on the streets and returned to hostel early. There is a cute little place nearby on the main street for an evening drink, bit pricier maybe but felt safe at least!
The staff were nice & hospitable, also there is a QR code with recommendations from the hostel. "Free tour" starts from the place on some days - wasn't able to use it unfortunately, but a nice option to have if staying on those days. Little shelf near the bed for top bunks & charging port near by, hooks at the end of the bed. The radiators in bathroom were nice & hot. The location in old town is nice enough, not far off the main street. A local practising piano on the level below - could also be a minus. No need for keys, just ring doorbell to be let in, very fast reply. Can leave your bag in the common area & use facilities post checkout if needed. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was simple but sufficient!

FranceToo few bathrooms and toilets with respect to the number of guests at the place at a time. No curfew but everytime you go out or enter the hostel you have to ring the reception to open the door which is a bit inconvenient.
Very central location and easy to find from main train station, by buses or metro. The hostel is near tourist attractions. Cleanliness and hospitability is at top. The staff are super nice and helpful. You can leave your luggage before check-in and after check-out time. Breakfast is provided with quality. Instructions are clear. You have the possibility to cook in the common kitchen too.

NetherlandsI was hoping not to pay 2 euros for a towel, but this is not a major complaint. I should have prepared more.
Location was good because it lies near the city center and not far from the station Genova Piazza Principe. Breakfast came with as a buffet and they have a good selection of cereals, bread, yogurt, and drinks.

CanadaThe attempted hassling for 10 euros due to "late check-in" (5 minutes late) which was not stated as a policy of theirs on their booking page. I asked ahead if late check in would be possible, then was delayed by late transport out of my control and was never informed of said fee. Felt scammy and kind of set the tone for my visit
Location was super central, breakfast was pretty good, room was super spacious and so were bathrooms. Kitchen was well equipped.

TaiwanThe doors of rooms and toilets are all not easy to open/close them, and it makes noisy especially in the midnight. And the tiny table next to the bed is not functional actually. Anyway, this is just some minor things for improvement.
Location is perfect. And it is really kind to have breakfast included at this low price.

NetherlandsI feel like the shower cabin was quite small and it was not too good concerning hygiene. the day we left they did hire a new cleaner I noticed, so it might change now. I do however really recommend this hostel. me and my brother loved it even though we spent just one night there
I loved the atmosphere. the staff was so very kind and social. the staff sleeps there as well and hangs out with everyone too. it's a social hostel (especially in the evenings). we just hung out in the common room. the rooms are good. it's clean. the facilities such as kitchen/shower/toilets are fine. the kitchen was very clean. the showers and toilets were okay. the bedroom was spacious and had good spacious lockers as well.

United KingdomMaybe to access the hostel via Garibaldi is the best option....then you cannot cross the small alleys and prostitution places....I felt a bit unsafe when crossing those narrow alleys, specially because internet doesnt work well there and there were many "weird" people circulating there...So, go through Via Garibaldi...
Breakfast was nice, and it was included in the price of the room. Staff was really nice. Leandro, the Brazilian, was very friendly, specially giving tips of places to visit and things to do. For example, instead of taking a bus from Santa Margherita Ligure to Portofino, he advised me to go by walk...and seriously, that was the best thing I did, for the view and for the exercise I really needed to do at some point (I was eating a lot those days).

United KingdomTwo of the showers were only hand held and couldn’t be attached to the wall but it wasn’t a huge issue
As soon as we came in it was a really friendly environment, everyone welcomed us even though it was 11 at night and we got a tour from the receptionist, which was lovely. The staff were all travellers doing world packers or similar so were good fun and hung out with us all a lot. The structure of the hostel was was hugely social and everyone was kind and respectful. Despite being in a 12 person dorm it still felt really spacious. The hostel is also only a 15-20 minute walk from both Piazza Principale station and Brignole station. Breakfast was included and always well stocked and there was a ‘free food’ shelf. The kitchen was clean and had good facilities. Shout out to the great staff - Leandro, Leander and Louiz!
