Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandTrying to find the place!!. It was challenging!!. It beat google maps!!. And took us another 10-15min looking around trying to locate the place, not many streets, not many street signs. Streets names changing etc it was all challenging. But hey, it was worth the effort to stay.
Location, fitout. The experience was great 👍

Hong KongThe room is a nightmare. You have to climb impossible flights of stairs (incredibly narrow and steep, dangerous for claustrophobic and torturing for anyone with luggage) YET end up in an underground dungeon with only some narrow overhead window seeing the feet of people walking on the street above (yes, like a sewer rat) and you literally hear every single sound made by everyone passing by that street at any hour of the day and night. This room is so suffocating that it provokes a sense of baffled impotence. I would like to think that I deserve this room if I’d paid a fraction of the price that I was charged; the truth, however, is that this so-called “superior double room” costs €160/night (cash-only discounted price, only if you agree to cancel the booking online and pay the owner directly and, presumably, cannot post your review as a result) or higher if you book via booking.com. I haven’t even mentioned that the “reception” is located in a random irrelevant building and looks like a damp and dark garage for doggy businesses, and that the lady who received us makes no effort to conceal her indifference and rudeness. Before the agreed check-out time on the last morning, someone just broke in the room while I was in bed. Of course, no one apologised. So mind your privacy and safety. By the way, “Vernazza Main Plaza” does not exist on google maps. Check tripadvisor for review or search by “Francamaria Rooms” as it is the real & original name of the property.
Nothing. As a veteran traveller, this is the first time that I feel scammed by a tourist trap. I have myself to blame for not having done my research, and I hope this won’t happen to anyone more.

United States of AmericaThe place has great scores. However, it must depends on which room you get. The room (#3) has basically no window besides a 2' x 3' opening that is 10 feet above the bed and opens to the floor of the dark street above (the house is built on a steep hill!). Basically no light gets in. The bathroom stands above the room with three very high steps... and the shower is even higher, three more high steps: you better not slip when coming out of the shower! This OK if you are desperate for a place to stay in Vernazza and are ready to pay a premium, but do not expect to spend any pleasant time in this dark room! When leaving the place, i saw another room that was similarly dark but a third room had two nice windows to the street: this must be the one that gets the 9.0 grade. Other than the disappointment of the mini-dark room, everything else went smoothly and the person who let us in remotely was very nice and helpful. Please say and show what the room is and what it lacks. Lies by omission are still lies
Great location in the center of the village, near the boats to all the villages of Cinque Terre. There are many restaurants around. Vernazza is at the end of a very beautiful winding road to a convenient parking for $20 a day and a quick shuttle to the village. Leave the car there and do everything else by boat or hike
