Pillows are hard. More amenities like facial wash/milk and lotion would be nice. Restaurants only serve buffet which is quite expensive for small eaters.

Clean, spacious, nice onsen. Located in a quiet and peaceful area.

Superb buffet-style dinner and breakfast - everything fresh and incredibly tasty, with a great variety of the most popular Japanese and Western foods. On top of that, kind and helpful staff. I also loved the public bath - quite spacious, clean and with quite a nice view of the mountains. I could see Aso-san from my room as well, and it made my day <3 I strongly recommend this hotel, great value for a fraction of the price of other good local hotels.

Fresh new property set-in exclusive quiet plot next to main roadway surrounded by vast green fields. Large indoor onsen provides excellent access to rejuvenate every tiring soul.

This is not necessarily the hotel’s fault but many large international tour groups like to stay at this hotel. So sometimes, the buffet line for dinner and breakfast can get quite busy! The eating area also gets very chaotic and loud. As an international guest myself, I always try to respect local customs and follow the onsen rules. However, I noticed that several guests were not following the onsen rules, which greatly impacted the experience. Thus, if you are seeking a boutique onsen experience, this is not your place to stay. Otherwise, it was excellent!

Great location at the base of Mt Aso just minutes away! New facilities, very clean, amazing recliner chairs, and beautifully designed indoor onsen area. Very comfortable and large room. Plentiful buffet. Had all the amenities of an onsen hotel.

Their is a complimentary shuttle to and from the Akamizu train station, Aso and beyond, but communication reserving it through the desk and the driver never worked for us. They never confirmed our message request sent a few days in advance for pick up. We just got lucky that the driver happened to be picking up a large group from the station when we arrived at the Akimizu train station and got on the shuttle with them. The day before check out, I asked the receptionist what time could the shuttle be reserved for our 10:20 train at Akimizu the next morning and she said 10:00 and wrote down our reservation. We waited next morning. At 10:05 we saw the shuttle bus arrive, but it bypassed us at the front door and parked along the side of the building. Fortunately there was another couple waiting and we all started to walk to the shuttle. As the driver came out, he looked quite surprised to see us. I explained that we had reserved the shuttle for 10:00 for Akimizu, but he said he was going to Aso first. It was now 10:10 and I had to insist that we would miss our 10:20 train if he did not take us to Akamizu right away. It was a stressful way to leave after a wonderful stay.

Was pleasantly surprised at how nice and new the room was. Very comfortable cotton samue two piece cotton casual wear that can be worn to onsen baths, diningroom and as sleep wear. Nice to have choice of sizes in the lobby. Our room had comfortable lounging chairs to gaze at our mountain view during a rainy day. Comfortable twin beds with nice bedding. Breakfast and dinner buffets were lavish. It was nice to have many choices to fit our moods or tastes. The fresh local vegetables were excellent with some of the most amazing cherry tomatoes we've ever eaten. Lobster Thermidor and sashimi offered nightly, as well as some Western options. The ice cream bar held amazing flavors the cut fresh fruits were delicious.

I will feel more secure if they have a pin for access to ladies onsen (like many other hotels).

The buffet dinner spread was fabulous (including the thermidor lobster that many guests raved about). We went dinner a little late so some sashimi have been emptied (they replenished later but I was too full to eat more). So do be early for dinner to have the best spread.

The facility is nice. However, only few staffs are able to communicate in English. I called the reception and asked for a bathroom mat which they forgot to put in our room. The staff who picked up my call couldn't speak and understand English; therefore, what he did was to hang up. That's a kind of rude! I think not all staffs need to speak and understand English but at least one of the receptionists in each shift should be able to do that so that he/she could help resolve problems for hotel guests.

Pity about the breakfast and dinner buffets, which have no variation from day to day. So it gets tiresome if you stay more than 1 night. Also do note that the hotel caters to large tourist groups, which can be a noisy disturbance.

Rooms are modern and spacious. Sufficient parking lots. Lift takes awhile as there's only 1.
