Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe felt personally greeted by the staff when we arrived, helped as it was the Happy Hour so we could just relax while the registration was done and then went to our room. The staff kindly waited for us. The food was very good. Simply wish we had more time to stay longer.

SingaporeAn excellent ryokan with great food, clean rooms, and nice public baths. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The staff were extremely polite and helpful during and after stay as well. There is also a free shuttle bus for guests who are checking in and checking out that heads to Ogotoonsen station. I would like to compliment Mr Toshi Kondo (Reservations) for his excellent service as my family left a phone charger head and wire in the room after checking out. He was able to help mail the charger out to a hotel in Kyoto where a friend who was visiting would help collect it and bring it back for us.

United States of AmericaRelaxing and beautiful environment. Private onsen room had a gorgeous view of the lake and the onsen itself was very refreshing. The staff makes you feel very welcomed and they take good care of you. The traditional Japanese style rooms were spacious and comfortable. Easy access to the ryokan from the train station via the shuttle bus they provide. Would come back anytime!

United States of AmericaMy only gripe with this hotel is that the air conditioning unit in our room wasn't strong enough, and so the combination of the morning sun and steam from the in-room onsen made the room quite hot.
My spouse and I came here for a one-night stay for our honeymoon, and reserved a room with a private onsen with a traditional tatami room that overlooked Lake Otsu and everything about this experience was phenomenal. The staff were friendly, polite, and respectful, and while we couldn't speak Japanese, tried their best to speak English with us. The facilities from the public areas (lobby and onsens), dining halls, and rooms were very clean. We loved enjoying the traditional experience of sleeping in a tatami room, which meant sleeping on the floor. The mattresses provided were surprisingly comfortable, and we actually got a really good night's rest. Waking up in the morning to peace and quiet, with just the sound of the running onsen water in our private onsen made the experience more memorable. We also had a private dining room, which we were served 11-dishes, and the food quality, presentation, and experience is what you'd expect of a 5-star hotel! We also loved having a private shuttle to pick us up and drop us off from the nearby train station to the hotel, especially since we were carrying quite a few pieces of luggage.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this excellent hotel, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and made me feel right at home. Their exceptional hospitality truly enhanced my overall experience. One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the dinner and breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. The culinary delights served were simply outstanding. Every dish was meticulously prepared, bursting with flavors that tantalized my taste buds. The chefs showcased their expertise by creating a diverse menu that catered to various palates. Whether it was the succulent grilled meats, the fresh seafood, or the delectable vegetarian options, each plate was a work of art. The dinner experience was truly memorable, with an elegant ambiance and attentive service that added to the overall charm. The restaurant staff were knowledgeable, providing insightful recommendations and ensuring that every detail of my dining experience was taken care of. Their professionalism and passion for culinary excellence were evident in every interaction. The breakfast spread was equally impressive, offering a wide array of options to suit all preferences. From a sumptuous continental selection to a delightful assortment of local delicacies, there was something to satisfy every craving. I particularly enjoyed the freshly baked pastries and the made-to-order omelettes. The quality and freshness of the ingredients used were top-notch, leaving me energized and ready to start my day. In addition to the exceptional dining experience, the hotel itself was a haven of comfort and tranquility. The rooms were elegantly furnished, providing a cozy retreat after a long day of exploring the city. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the plush bedding to the luxurious amenities.

IrelandThe evening meal was very basic and disappointing. The breakfast is entirely Japanese focused so will not suit many travelling visitors. The Onsen facilities are closed from 11pm so frustratingly you cannot use them the morning you check out.
Our room containing the hot tub on the balcony was amazing. The Onsen facilities are cool but be aware of gender segregation. The happy hour where the hotel provides free wine and snacks was lots of fun.

CanadaThe rooms are starting to become a little dated and the bathroom fan in our room was quite loud and could t be turned off. The rooms also run a bit hot, even with the air conditioning on high.
The staff were all excellent and really friendly. The dinners were amazing with many traditional dishes that we had never had before. The breakfast was also really good. Having a hot spring hot tub on your deck is awesome and a great way to relax.

United States of AmericaI called the number that was sent with my booking to request a shuttle from the local metro station and they never answered my call, so I had to walk to the hotel from the station. The walk wasn't terrible, but not being able to take the shuttle was a little annoying. I was able to easily take the shuttle from the hotel back to the station though once I left, so that was nice.
The inside of the hotel was very pretty, and the view from my room was incredible. The staff was very friendly, and the check-in and -out processes were super easy.
