Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThere was a balcony, but no chairs to take outside to sit on. The futon was on the thinner side. When you’re lying down on the futon, the sound of footsteps on your floor is easily transmitted. No coffee or tea in the room.
Two wonderful rotemburos on the roof that you can have all to yourself. Good buffet breakfast. Quite spacious, with a very big refrigerator and a microwave.

United KingdomThe pathway to get to the place is hidden behind backroads and didn't help it was on a steep hill, going to the closest convenience store or anywhere with food felt far
Staff were friendly, the optional breakfast was nice, the room is an actual apartment, though I opted for traditional so it was bare but it had the necessities. The highlight was the private hotsprings, they were popular as it was first come first serve basis even at 6am opening

BulgariaWe were not experienced with futon beds, so we found them very uncomfortable. Even we used two futons for one person (one on top the other), they were very hard and it was very uncomfortable to sleep (practically) on the floor. The so called "tatami" were in fact plastic flooring, nothing to do with the real tatami, so it is nothing better than the wooden flooring of the corridor. We did not like that the different private baths (3 types) were situated on different floors and in order to use one after the other one should dress and move on different floors. The pictures on the site were misleading about size and view especially for the semi open air bath on the 1st floor.
We liked the location close to the beach, the politeness and availability of the staff and the fact that there were enough explanations in English. We liked the affordable price for the room and the small kitchenette.

JapanNo slope for wheelchair, elevator door closed too fast. The futon beds smells weird like smoke.
The breakfast was great and also the private onsen. The kids enjoyed a lot in the bubble bath. I like it because it's so close to the beach.

United KingdomIt was a bit tricky getting to the location since it was up on a hill, so be careful with your luggage!
The hotel was a hidden gem - a lovely private onsen, kind staff, and a comfortable room to fit 3 travellers. They provided slippers and yukatas when using the onsens.

SwitzerlandI don’t like the way the hotel’s entrance isn’t obvious and that it hotel’s name on the entrance board wasn’t written in English. I just walked past it as a non-Japanese reader. The way to the reception was weird and a little confusing too. There were just too many corners but once you get used to it it’s easier to remember. During breakfast, they would place your room numbers on the tables to determine where you sit which is just weird. As a guest, I would like to sit at whichever table I want to. As I traveled alone this time I didn’t want any of my other guests from other rooms to realize my room number too when coming down to eat breakfast it’s just awkward. The shower head in my room could use maintenance as the water was leaking when I turned on the water. The room was okay but in some areas, it’s still dusty and it gives this sense of old mess which I’m not against but it could’ve provided this sense of comfort. It was just bare. The body towel was so thin and short too they could make the quality a bit higher. Welcome drink water was not provided at least two bottles won’t do any harm.
I like this hotel for the location near the beach. The staff’s service was good. The breakfast buffet was decent.

United Kingdom...to start with, the room had clearly seen better days; the walls had multiple marks and blemishes, and flooring and mats visible damages on multiple spots, and there was a hint of a smell of something mouldy. The hot water also suddenly disappeared whilst taking a shower. However, the greatest disappointment was the rooftop onsen, which used to be the main selling point of Grandview Atami – back before the pandemic, it was a humble but cosy communal (but sex-separated) open-air onsen on the 11th floor (and the hotel is already situated on a hill), providing you with one of the best views of Atami whilst bathing. It also felt very safe to use, but not anymore. The old communal onsen has been replaced with two private onsens, each clearly inferior (and much shallower), but that is before you notice that there THERE IS A HUGE OPENING AT THE END OF THE BATH WHICH IS LITERALLY AT THE EDGE OF THE ROOFTOP, with no safety nets or anything preventing you from falling down 11+ floors to a certain death if you just lean a bit too much over the edge. Nothing will catch you. Try to relax. I tried, and I have no fear of heights, but that was too much. Never again.
The room you get is quite big, more than enough to store multiple large suitcases (or multiple futons if having several occupants), with cooking facilities, and a traditional Japanese bathroom with separate toilet. The hotel is now also accepting credit card payments, which it did not use to. I visited once before the pandemic, and quite enjoyed my stay - not the best onsen hotel, but very decent for the price at the time. However, since then, things have changed...

JapanCancellations are not allowed. Breakfast is only served at 7 or 8, and if you’re checking in late you will not get to choose. If you want to grill your own fish on a small pot stove, 45 minutes for breakfast are barely enough. The building is old, the entrance/front a little hard to find. The location seems convenient (10 mins from the station) but the walk uphill back to the station is so steep anyone with suitcases is better off calling a taxi. I want to say the room was overall clean, but there was some hair on the spare futon in the closet. No spare linens or pillow cases. Note: you have to set your own futon! Even though my stay was cheap, I am unsure of the cost/performance. Do not look for comfort here, only convenience. If you want to be independent and use the kitchenette this may be the place for you.
A funny little QR code system updated in real time tells you whether the private baths are available - no reservation required. (I cannot speak to the quality of the baths because it was raining and the indoor baths were always full, so I didn’t get to use them.) Staff is polite but does not speak any English. However, English maps of the building etc. are provided at the front.

FranceThe private open-air ocean-view onsen is unique and in itself deserves to come to the Grandview Atami hotel! The other aspects are as excellent: the room is in fact an apartment (a space of 8 tatamis, completed with a small kitchen with a fridge and a micro-wave oven, and a bathroom, perfectly clean, quiet and comfortable, with a direct access from the street: it feels like living in Japan. The attendants are attentionate. The hotel is located right in the center of Atami, at 5 minutes walk from the station and 5 minutes from the beach. An ideal place for a stay in Atami.
