Amazing hostel. We loved staying in a traditional style accommodation that was on the more affordable side! The bathrooms and facilities were amazing and super clean. Highly recommend!

Probably just that the door of the level 1 shower room opens into the kitchen area, which is a little awkward to walk out to after a shower heh. But no biggie!

Nice common area, lots of maps and recommendations provided by the knowledgable owner. Bunk bed room was also spacious enough for individual luggages, which I really appreciate! Futon super comfortable too.

Laundry drying services end at 8pm, which made it hard for us to get our things cleaned because we were out exploring all day. That being said, we enjoyed the quiet evening atmosphere and ability to hang our clothes to dry overnight.

Walking from the train station to the hostel was beautiful. First you walk through a small town area, then through a temple area and then down a couple more small town street to the hostel. Upon check in you slip off your shoes and into some slippers. The check in process was seamless and the information provided and tour were handy. We would definitely book there again!

This is such a great hostel, we would definitely stay here anytime again. The host staff is so friendly, helpful and lovely. The kitchen and living area is very well designed, it feels comfy and cool at the same time. We easily met other travellers and had great conversations. The rooms are nice and simple, as advertised (traditional room). Also, everything in Matsumoto downtown is easily accessible by foot within a few minutes, and the hosts have prepared very nice maps with their recommendations of what to do and where to go. 10/10, one of the best hostels we've stayed in in all of Japan!

Only one was not very comfortable is to roll mattress every day. But the rest is great.

It is very friendly, cozy old Japanese house: wooden floors, tatami in rooms, sliding doors. Stuff is very friendly and the whole atmosphere is amazing. Small kitchen to cook, plenty of space to rest and chill. Free washing machine, dryer is 300 yen but you can hang your laundry to dry outside. Big bed, shelves in pod, a small locker. The lock for it can be borrowed at reception.

Our family of 4 loved it here! the boys (7 & 10) enjoyed the lounge area and the toys and games. It was warm and welcoming. EASY to get everywhere. We spent a a few days on the bikes provided to get around town. We had so much info provided for all the best place to go including food and onsens. Close to the Castle. Close to shops and coffee. We added a night because we didnt want to leave! So great. Recommend.

Had a wonderful time staying here, Asuka checked me in and was super helpful and delightful to talk to! All the staff that I spoke to had excellent English skills and, they made it feel like I was at home. Booked a single dormitory bed and it was cozy and comfortable. Excellent place for a solo traveler of any age.

Room was pretty small but not unusual for what you should expect at a hostel.

The person who was at front desk and showed us around was very friendly and gave clear instructions. Shared living space was really nice and had lots of good recommendations for places in Matsumoto to check out. Shower room was amazing.
