Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaN/A- this place is perfect for solo female travel!
Mizuho was so accommodating and welcoming- I felt right at home! The house is a gorgeous 100 year old traditional home belonging to Mizuho's family, it has beautiful rooms filled with tatami and traditional decor, very clean, so charming and a wonderful place to relax closeby to all the onsen so you can quickly pop back in between baths! You even get to wear Yukata, Geta and borrow an onsen bag to use at the onsens! Lovely and quiet spot too, there is a beautiful traditional Japanese garden at the house to enjoy, I felt very safe and comfortable. I wish I had longer to stay, but will definitely return when my sister comes to visit- I can't wait to take her and introduce her to Mizuho and Kinosaki- a beautiful, unique, authentic Japanese experience- Arigato Gozaimasu!

This place was excellent. The house is extremely beautiful, the two sisters who run the property are absolute sweethearts. The sleeping area is hostel style, with traditional Japanese bedding, which I found to be very comfortable and well spaced out from other guests. The location is superb for getting to all the baths and restaurants in the area. It was a real treat, especially for traveling solo and a great price. The sisters provided everything you need for the baths and provide a lock box for keeping personal important belongings while out of the property. It was fun to meet other solo travelers and have a more traditional experience.

United States of AmericaThere wasn't much not to like!
The hosts were so fun and incredibly sweet. The house is an old-style Japanese house and everything about it is incredibly neat. If you're looking to explore Kinosaki, and especially if you're traveling solo, this is a fantastic place to stay. I don't speak Japanese but hosts were generous with their time and we worked together to communicate. The house rules are sensible and easy to follow and the location is right in the heart of town.

SingaporeGreat value for the price. I had trouble locating the guesthouse and the public buses sending guests to various onsen hotels didn't allow new to use their service. I ended up using a taxi that cost 700 yen. Once I know where the guesthouse was, I walked to all the places and back. It's a central location! The owners were friendly and helpful with information and dining options. I stayed only for one night as the property was fully booked the next day. It was around 4 degrees at night, yet I was able to sleep well with the heaters provided. Thank you for your hospitality!

SloveniaNothing at all.
This guesthouse greatly exceeded my expectations. The sisters were so kind in welcoming me to the house and they even upgraded me from a shared to a single room for free. It was my first time going to an onsen, so they showed me how to put on a yukata properly. They also provided me with the wooden clogs, an obi and an overcoat for winter, a bathing towel and a cute little bag to carry things around during onsen hopping. All of this was completely free of charge. My room was very spacious, heated by aircon, and super quiet, so I had a great night sleep. There was a shared kitchen with free tea and coffee. Kinosaki is very walkable and the location of the guesthouse is right in the middle of the onsen area, on a side street, a short stroll from the train station. The house is exceptionally clean. I cannot recommend this guesthouse highly enough.

GermanyThe beds are a bit hard, but that’s due to the traditional bedding, I believe.
The guesthouse was my favorite hostel out of the five i stayed in during my trip through japan. The interior is super authentic and quite cute. There’s a lot to discover. The location is perfect, especially if you come for the onsen. But the best is the staff! They were incredibly friendly and i’ve never felt more welcome! When the stores were closed for a few ours due to a tsunami warning, they informed us and even gave me dinner - which was a lifesaver!

Chihiro and Mizuho are delightful hosts and it is a privilege to stay at an authentic onsen guesthouse. The sisters are so helpful on sharing the offerings of their town in spite of their basic English.

ItalyJust bear in mind that common area and shower is closed between 23-8.00, as well as the main door closes at 23,30 , so you need to be in by that time. Not a problem for me though, the onsens close at 23.00 and are really close to the house
The ladies that run the place are the sweetest people ever, they were always ready to help :) The house is beautiful, the traditional ryokan with paper walls and tatami everywhere.. and it's literally 1 minute from the center Totally recommended!

JapanThe property was very clean and well maintained and in a great location! Check in was very easy and they allowed us to store our bags before and after checkout. The two women running the hostel were extremely friendly and accommodating and spoke very good English! I also loved the yukata robes provided for my friends and I, they were so cute and the wool outer layer was very warm. Would absolutely stay here again if I return to Kinosaki Onsen!
