Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe blanket was quite thin, although this wasn't a problem because it was quite warm when we stayed. The location is not super close to the main restaurants and convenience stores (10 min walk), but this wasn't too much of a problem because of the bicycles.
I spent 8 days in total at Kishaba's GuestHouse and it was lovely, it was a very peaceful stay with a relaxed vibe. Kishaba was very helpful in answering questions and helping to contact local car rental companies on behalf of me. The bicycles were really useful, we can use them for free to go to the grocery store or tofu higa (would highly recommend). The guest house also provides sanitary items which I think was such a great touch. The kitchen was stocked with all the appliances you needed, and there is a lounge area where you can sit and hang out. The wifi connection was excellent too. Kishaba cleaned the guest house daily so even though it was a bit dated it always felt very clean.

AustraliaExcellent location, bed was super comfortable. Space was large and toilets were really good and clean with big kitchen space and chill space. I was living alone fortunately so I had everything to myself but it’s really warm and cozy if many people were there too! Also kishaba was very friendly and nice!

JapanThere is a shower for the men here, but if you’re a guy and you like baths, there is no bath and no sento nearby. Not a big issue, just something to be aware of. The women’s area includes a bath.
From arrival, Kishaba-san went out of his way to invite me to the local Kyuubon celebrations over the next few nights, and while there he introduced me to his family and a couple others. When I left to Naha and stayed at another hostel, I felt surprised by how much more comfortable and welcome I felt staying at Kishaba. Amenities are suitable, location is great, facilities are wonderful. The bed is comfortable, spacious, and private. Above all though, staying here made my trip to Ishigaki that much more memorable.

GermanyUnbelievable! The owner helped me to organize trips, showed me restaurants and also offered me to help at a mango farm of his friend. All his recommendations were a great experience and i felt the whole week very comfortable, because he tried me to help with anything he could. I also talked a lot with other guests and was on karaoke with them. So likely you find here also some interesting other people. Amazing place to stay and i can recommend to anyone to stay here and talk with the owner - he will help you to make the best out of your ishigaki staying👌

FranceJust note that the guesthouse is a few minutes walk from the city center / ferry terminal, but that's really nothing. (and anyway there are 2 bus stops nearby, to explore the island or go to the airport)
The bed was comfortable, with enough space to put and access my suitcase. The different spaces were nice (I used the tatami room a lot!) The staff was great 😊

The most wonderful hostel! Host is very kind and helpful, he gave me tips on where to go and let me borrow snorkel gear. The place is clean, and the location is just 5-10 min walk from all the restaurants/shops/public transport. If you're looking for a relaxed and homely place with chance to make new friends, then I can highly recommend this hostel.

United KingdomI visited Ishigaki Island just when it was starting to get warm The rooms have an air conditioning system for the whole room. However, if you close your curtains to your bed fully, it can still get quite warm. (I'm not very good with heat, so really it's a problem that's personal.) However, there is readily provided a small desk fan for each bed which worked well enough for me. One other personal preference I would have liked to have had was a bidet (you know, the usual Japanese ones; I just can't live without them now). The toilet in the guesthouse was very clean and modern but just lacked that extra washing facility that I've grown to love since living in Japan. (Cue the meme of Chris Pratt in Parks and Recreation).
First and foremost, the owner was absolutely lovely and so welcoming. He was very happy to chat without being intrusive, and he gave me a lot of information on the area. He really makes sure you are easily settled in with all the information you need about the guesthouse and your stay. The other guests and the owner's friends who sometimes visit are also very friendly and really welcome you in. The guesthouse is one that accommodates only eight guests (four females, four males, each split into two rooms) so it's a cosy and warm place to stay. You have access to a well equipped kitchen (fridge, stove top, utensils etc) as well as a washing machine and dryer. Before arriving, I was worried about sharing the shower but because everyone seems to rinse down the shower after use, it stays nice and clean. (This doesn't happen often in other places with shared bathrooms.) So, it was a pleasant surprise. As for the sleeping area, it's a little different from usual guesthouses where they're often open bunk beds. Here, however, they're set out like capsule hotel beds so it feels a little more private. At the ends of each bed there is extra space for your belongings (enough for one large suitcase) plus a security box too. Also, the bed itself was comfortable enough that I could have slept for ages without pain.

AustraliaIt was very hot and stuffy, so I had to change accommodation after only one night. The price is so low so have low expectations- a bit far from the central area, very old and somewhat dirty house (shower had mold all over the curtain), and the aircon situation was complicated. You have to pay like 100 yen per person per hr for a communal space, which is strange to enforce. The pods get very stuffy and hot, even with a little fan. There is an aircon in the room but other guests can change the settings so it's hard to be comfortable. I didn't get a refund even though I didn't stay for two extra nights, which is understandable but disappointing. When the weather is very hot, just pay more for a very reasonable hotel in a more central area so you are comfortable.
It was very cheap, probably the cheapest accommodation in the area. The staff was kind enough to meet me in front of the hostel as it was difficult to find at night.
