Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMaybe I’m missing something, I feel that most people who booked this Ryokan were not interested in exploring the amazing Kinosaki onsen town. Maybe that they wanted to get away from the crowd so they picked this Ryokan? I was the only one using the free shuttle bus to go downtown after dinner. I was also quite surprised to find out that I needed to buy the one-day onsen pass separately, which other Ryokans in the area provide for free. The pass costed 1,500 yen. Also, if you want to go to the public onsens the next day, you will need to buy another pass because it’s only valid on the date of purchase. So, I ended up paying double! You will need to take a taxi if you want to go downtown in the morning before checkout. There will be some other extra charges if you go after checkout such as renting a towel etc.
This is the Ryokan to go for if you want to experience the ultimate japanese hospitality. The river view in my room was amazing. The traditional 10-course dinner in the restaurant is unforgettable! The outdoor public bath also has a great view to enjoy.

South AfricaDiner and breakfast had much too much crab-based food for us that we could not easily digest. We actually could not eat anything for breakfast after the heavy diner. Meals are expensive, so we decided to cancel diner and breakfast for our second night. Because tge young staff does not speak good basic English and may be due to poor training, they did not explain in detail the content/substance of the different food courses (as the English menu was not enough). So we were left guessing without always resolving it
Internal hotsprings, very very comfortable amazing Japanese twin room with magical river view and amazing wooden bath. Good to gave a shuttle to and from Kinosaki railway station. Staff sweet and kind

United States of AmericaFor a luxury onsen resort property, I was expecting to be able to book massage appointment but they do not offer any such services. That seemed strange to me as most properties of this caliber offer massage services, even with contracted vendors for in-room shiatsu appointments.
We booked 3 rooms for 6 adults at Ginka Kinosaki Onsen. In addition to the public and private bath (can be reserved without additional charge), the rooms we booked came with our own in-room furo to enjoy. The rooms are spotlessly spacious and the service level and staff at Ginka are exceptional! We arranged the hotel shuttle to take us to/from Kinosaki Onsen train station upon arrival and departure and with a reservation, they will even take you into town. It is true that the the property is NOT within walking to the main town but that’s the beauty of it…the property is simply relaxing. I feel it’s important build in a few nights of just some R&R while traveling and not have to be “on the go” the entire time. We also opted to have a kaiseki dinner one night and we enjoyed our meal and excellent service. From your Hawaiian friends, MAHALO Ginka for a wonderful stay!

SingaporeWe really loved the hotel stay - being greeted with the magnificent view of the sky, mountains and river when we entered the room, and we loved the peace and quiet of the location away from the main Kinosaki Onsen street. This did not pose any issue to us because of the free to-and-fro shuttle service that the hotel provided, which made it very convenient. We really enjoyed wearing the kimonos that were lent to us (and all other hotel guests), as we could wear them to explore the streets of Kinasaki-onsen. It was our first time, and the staff were really gracious in helping us wear the kimonos properly. The generosity of the hotel was evident through the complimentary yakults and we enjoyed the private Onsen and snacks/drinks that we could purchase with ease anytime. The breakfast view was fantastic too! We felt safe, at home and welcome - i.e. they made an effort to welcome us and bid farewell to us, which we appreciated too. It was truly a 5-star experience!

IndiaEven though the hotel is far from the station, the staff offers a shuttle bus to and fro the town so it’s not a problem at all.
Everything. I am from India and travelled solo. I was thoroughly taken care of ! I opted for half board so I was served dinner and breakfast in an individual private room within the restaurant. The food was so delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The onsen is very easy to book at no extra cost. I went to the private onsen and 45 mins is enough imo because the hot water will make dizzy beyond 30 mins anyway. They also had gelato, snacks and sake for sale which you can simply pick up by filling out a form and pay for during check out. They even helped me put on a beautiful yukata in which I had dinner and could go to the town wearing. They also provided pyjamas in the room which I wore to breakfast. It’s the best experience and I recommend this hotel to every foreigner who wants to experience onsen for the first time in a beautiful countryside town of Japan.

Room was completely beautiful and the view and level of service was phenomenal. The food was really really good and it was worth every penny.

GermanyNothing negative to say.
Exceptional food, my compliments to the executive chef Hamade Takeo! The staff was very welcoming and really made us feel at home. Overall there were so many small details and touches that make this Ryokan very special. The sight and sounds of the river just outside the rooms really make it a perfect place to relax. The beach is only a short walk away so we opted to go to the beach instead of catching the shuttle to Kinosaki Onsen Town. Hope I manage to come back next year !

Authentic, pristine, and with breathtaking views. The big bath is a highlight. Ideal for an intimate, traditional Japanese escape. Highly recommended. Do not pass on Dinner & Breakfast for authentic and delicious meals.

SpainIt was perfect. From the staff to the dinner (I recommend paying for it because it's a really good course of local food). They helped us to go to Kinosaki-onsen in a shuttle van so even if the Ryokan is a little far from the onsens they make it really easy to spend a day on the town. I can't recommend this place enough, it was my best time on my japan trip.

The staff is extremely welcoming, very friendly, they have a translating device for any language barrier. I loved the driver who drove us from and to the hotel. And my favourite memory is the staff who bid us farewell everytime we headed to the town with the driver. The hotel felt like another family

The room provided is very cosy and the decor fits the room very much. I opt for the Kaiseki dinner on my first night and the meal presented is both aesthetic pleasing and delicious. The public bath is quite big and there is an outdoor bath with the view of the river, if you enter the bath at night you can even do some moon-viewing. I hope to visit here during the colder seasons

Switzerlandif you want to visit the small city of Kinosaki Onsen as well, it may need a little more planning, as it's about 15 min by car. however, they gladly help you and offer a shuttle in and out of Kinosaki
the location by the river is beautiful, it's very peaceful. staff was very polite and kind, and gladly took a reservation for the private onsen (tattoos). I loved the room with the bath tub and the seating area + sleeping on the futon was really comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were great: lots of different dishes to try from, seafood, meat and vegetables.
